Job summary

Continental is seeking an Experienced Chemist for Operational Development at the Pune plant. You will manage serial and launch-ready products, ensuring production reliability, quality and cost awareness.

The role focuses on formulation questions, product development collaboration, and supplier development across the product lifetime in India. Key tasks include technical support to production, industrializing new products with development teams, and driving process improvements through projects

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Chemistry or equivalent technical field.
• Experience in chemistry, polymer production, polymer formulation, or textile industry; PVC chemistry advantageous.
• Experience in development and processing of PVC coating materials advantageous.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong project management abilities and efficiency in handling multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Ensure serial production of product portfolio with design, formulation stability and materials availability in close cooperation with development, production, quality and purchasing.
• Provide technical consultation to production, manage complaints, and advise on product design and chemical formulation.
• Industrialize new products in close collaboration with product development teams and production units.
• Support efficiency and quality goals by product optimization projects.
• Adjust formulations and construction designs in serial applications within established tolerances.
• Handle simple and complex development projects.
• Test alternative raw materials and set up experimental materials.
• Collaborate with the product development team in Germany, Hanover and with adjacent departments.

Job Description

As experienced Chemist in our Operational Development, you will be the local product owner for all serial and launch-ready products in the plant in Pune. You will contribute decisively to maintain our constant production reliability, product quality and cost awareness. Your main focus is to assist to production and PPI in all formulation and product related questions, and to work on supplier development over all serial lifetime of our products. With successfully handling these challenges, you will contribute decisively to our growth plan in India.

• Ensure the serial production of our product portfolio with regard to construction design, formulation stability and raw material availability, in close cooperation with the local and regional development, production units, quality team and purchasing.
• Technical consultation to production, complaint management, and application technology regarding product design and chemical formulation.
• Ensure industrialization of new products in close collaboration with product development teams and production units.
• Support efficiency and quality goals by product optimization projects.
• Adjust formulations and construction designs in serial applications within established tolerances.
• Handling of simple and complex development projects.
• Testing alternative raw materials and set up experimental raw materials.
• One-team-cooperation with the product development team in Germany, Hanover.
• Narrow cooperation with adjacent departments, especially development, design, PPI, production, SCM, quality, test laboratories, purchasing, sales, customer technical service.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Chemistry or equivalent technical field like polymer science or process engineering.
• Professional experience in the field of chemistry, polymer production, polymer formulation, or textile industry. Experience in the chemistry of PVC and its applications would be of big advantage.
• Experience in the development and processing of PVC coating materials is highly advantageous
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong project management abilities and efficiency in handling multiple projects
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Effective communication and assertiveness skills
