Job summary

Expeditors International seeks a logistics professional to maintain strong relationships with service providers and keep the most updated port charges, storage, demurrage and transportation rates. You will build partnerships with local carriers, request quotes, and ensure timely responses to customer inquiries while adhering to company policies.

You will gather carrier information, compare rates, and collaborate with Sales and Customer Service to optimize margins.

Qualifications

2-3 years of industry-specific qualification (country specific)
Good market and product knowledge
Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, and communicate clearly to obtain positive results

Responsibilities

Maintain good relationships with service providers
Keep local port charges, storage and demurrage up to date
Maintain updated local transportation charges
Build strong relationships with local carriers and co-loaders
Request rates from local carriers and from offices and compare with contracts
Coordinate with customer service, sales and managers on profit margins
Provide quotes within 24 hours and send interim updates if rates are delayed
Submit quotes using the approved quoting format and keep quotes confidential
Update Quote Log with feedback for market analysis
Gather information (carrier, transit time, services) to improve quoting and close rates
Run weekly quote database reports and inform managers about best carrier options
Ensure job execution per company policies and update team on rate fluctuations

Job Description

To maintain a very good relationship with theservice providers.
To maintain always the most updated localport charges, storage and demurrages.
To maintain always the most updated local transportation charges.
To build very good relationship with the local carriers and co-loaders.
To requests rates from local carriers, as well as from destination/origin offices and compare the same with Share point and contract agreements.
To check withcustomer service persons, sales personsor managerson the profit margin to be added.
To revert on requests with quotes within 24 hours, if any delay in receipt of rates, an interim email to the sent to the respective person.
Quotes to be prepared using the Quoting Database or Approved Quote Format as per company policy.
To keep good relationship with Sales, Customer Service and to collect feedback for each and every quote.
Updating the Quote Log with feedback for Market analysis.
If rejected, the correct reason must be updated
To gather as much information as possible (carrier’s name, transit time, services used) to be able to quote better and get a high closing ratio.
To run weekly report through the Quoting Database and analyze the information and keep department managers aware of the best carrier to use from the best port/airport.
To keep all quotes submitted confidential and never disclose the information to anyone outside the department.
To make sure job is executed as per company guidelines and policies.To always update the team with the GRI, PSS and rate fluctuations and changes whenever they occur.
