Bagchi Sri Shankara Cancer Centre & Research Institute (BSSCCRI) is seeking an experienced MD in Nuclear Medicine with a Fellowship to lead diagnostic imaging, radionuclide therapies, and research initiatives. The role involves collaboration with surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, and hospital teams to integrate molecular imaging into personalized cancer care.

Qualifications

• MD in Nuclear Medicine with Fellowship.
• Experience in diagnostic nuclear imaging and radionuclide therapy preferred.
• Strong focus on radiation safety, QA, and theranostics.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and report diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures including PET-CT, SPECT-CT, and bone/thyroid/renal scans.
• Administer high-dose and low-dose radionuclide therapies (e.g., I-131, Lu-177-PSMA, Lu-177-DOTATATE)
• Participate in weekly multidisciplinary tumor boards to tailor molecular imaging-based treatment plans.
• Maintain radiation safety and compliance with AERB guidelines and waste management.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Diagnostic Nuclear Imaging: Interpret and report diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures, including whole-body PET-CT scans (FDG, PSMA, DOTA), SPECT-CT, bone scans, thyroid scans, and renal dynamic imaging for cancer diagnosis, staging, and treatment monitoring.
• Radionuclide Therapy & Theranostics: Administer high-dose and low-dose radionuclide therapies, including Radioiodine ($I^{131}$) therapy for thyroid cancer, $Lu^{177}$-PSMA therapy for prostate cancer, $Lu^{177}$-DOTATATE therapy for neuroendocrine tumors, and bone pain palliation.
• Multidisciplinary Tumor Board Participation: Actively participate in weekly multidisciplinary tumor boards to collaborate with surgical, medical, and radiation oncologists in incorporating molecular imaging into personalized patient treatment plans.
• Radiation Safety & AERB Compliance: Serve as a key custodian of radiation safety, ensuring strict compliance with Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) guidelines, radioactive waste management protocols, and institutional quality assurance programs.
• Isolation Ward & Patient Care: Oversee the high-dose radionuclide therapy isolation ward, managing patient admissions, pre‑therapy evaluations, radiation exposure monitoring, and post‑discharge safety instruction.
• Hot Lab & Quality Control Management: Oversee hot lab operations, radioisotope handling, radiopharmaceutical preparation, dose calibrator checks, and gamma camera/PET‑CT quality control procedures.
• Academics & Clinical Research: Guide residents, nuclear medicine technologists, and radiation safety officers, while driving clinical research and theranostic protocols.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Education: MD in Nuclear Medicine, with a recognized Fellowship in Nuclear Medicine.
• Experience: Above 5 years of post‑qualification experience in Nuclear Medicine.
