Job description

NIELIT Scientist B and Technical Assistant 2024

National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) will soon release the NIELIT notification 2024 about the recruitment of Scientist (Group-A) and Technical Assistant (Group-B) posts. Candidates can access the NIELIT application form 2024 on the official website at nielit.gov.in. Candidates should check the NIELIT eligibility criteria 2024 prior to applying for the exam to ensure they are qualified to appear.

The NIELIT Scientist B and Technical Assistant recruitment is conducted on behalf of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) across 29 cities in India. SC/ST/PWD/Women candidates are exempted from paying the NIELIT 2023 application fee while all others have to pay Rs. 800. For Scientist B and Technical Assistant A post, it is compulsory to appear in the written exam. As per previous year notifications, there are 402 vacancies: 71 for Scientist (Group-A) and 331 for Technical Assistant (Group-B).

The final selection for Scientist B will be based on the marks of the written test and the interview. There is no interview for the Technical Assistant post; candidates will be selected based on the written test.

Eligibility

• Age: Candidates should not exceed 30 years of age.
• Age Relaxations:

  • OBC [Non-Creamy Layer (NCL)] – 3 years
  • PWD – 10 years (15 years for PWD (SC/ST) & 13 years for PWD (OBC))
  • Central Civilian Govt. employees – 5 years

  • BE/B.Tech in Computer Science or Computer Engineering/Information Technology/Electronics & Communication/Electronics & Telecommunication.
  • MSc (Physics) with one year of experience or MSc (Electronics/Applied Electronics) with one year of experience.

Application Steps

STEP-1: Submission of Applicant’s Details

Candidates are required to provide all mandatory details marked with * in the online application form. The required information includes:

• Post Applied
• City of Written Examination
• Candidate’s Name
• Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Legal Guardian’s Name
• Category, Date of Birth, Nationality
• Correspondence Address, Permanent Address
• Experience Details, Identity Details (AADHAR)
• Application Fee

After entering the details, candidates click “Continue” to preview. If correct, proceed to Step-2; otherwise, edit the application.

STEP-2: Upload of Photographs and Documents

Candidates need to upload the following files:

• Educational qualification, experience, date of birth, caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC) and category certificate (if applicable) – single PDF < 2 MB.
• Scanned photograph with signature – JPEG/JPG < 50 KB.

STEP-3: Payment of Application Fee

After completing STEP-2, candidates click “Save STEP-2 & Proceed” for payment of the fee (Rs. 800) unless exempted. Payment can be made via Credit card, Debit card, or Net Banking.

STEP-4: Printout of the Application Form

Applicants can view the online application form from the “View/Print Application” option. They should use their Application Number and Date of Birth to view and print the form for future reference.

Exam Centres

The written exam is objective type conducted offline in 29 cities. Each exam will have 120 objective questions: 60 on Computer Science and 60 on Generic Area (Logical reasoning, quantitative ability, general awareness, etc.). Negative marking is 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

Results, Admit Card, and Interview

The admit card will be issued 15 days before the exam. Candidates must download, print, and bring a valid photo ID proof during the exam. Call letters for interview will be available on the website; NIELIT does not send them by post.

The result is announced online. Candidates who attain the minimum qualifying marks (50% for General, 40% for OBC, 30% for SC/ST) are shortlisted.

Final selection for Scientist B is based on written marks and interview (ratio 1:3). An interview is compulsory for Scientist B; no interview for Technical Assistant.
