Job summary

Vijaya Diagnostic Centre Limited is seeking an EEG/Neurodiagnostic Technician to support procedures, patient safety, and data management at our Andhra Pradesh unit. The role involves patient preparation, electrode placement, and performing/assisting across EEG, NCS, EMG, and sleep studies.

The candidate will ensure accurate data collection, assist neurologists, and help maintain quality standards in a clinical diagnostic setup. Prior exposure to EHR systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• Explaining procedures to patients and families to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.
• Taking relevant medical histories, especially regarding active neurological medications or seizures.
• Measuring and marking the head using the 10-20 system for precise electrode placement.
• EEG testing including routine, sleep-deprived, and 24-hour ambulatory recordings.
• Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS): administering mild stimuli to assess nerve signals.
• EMG assistance: setting up the machine and assisting during needle insertions.
• Polysomnography: monitoring sleep data to identify sleep disorders.
• Sterilizing and maintaining electrodes and diagnostic equipment.
• Archiving digital records securely within the hospital EHR.

Core Clinical Responsibilities

• Patient Preparation & Safety
  • Explaining procedures to patients and families to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.
  • Taking relevant medical histories, especially documentation regarding active neurological medications or recent seizures.
  • Measuring and marking the patients head using the international 10-20 system to ensure precise electrode placement.
  • Applying electrodes safely to the scalp or skin using specialized conductive paste or gels.
• Diagnostic Testing Operations
  • Electroencephalograms (EEG): Conducting routine, sleep-deprived, or extended 24-hour ambulatory EEGs to record brain wave activity.
  • Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS): Administering mild electrical stimuli to peripheral nerves to measure the speed and strength of nerve signals.
  • Electromyography (EMG) Assistance: Setting up the machine, preparing the patient, and assisting the neurologist during needle EMG insertions.
  • Evoked Potentials (EP/VEP/BAER): Measuring the nervous system's response to sensory stimuli like light flashes (Visual) or clicking sounds (Auditory).
  • Polysomnography (Sleep Studies): Monitoring and recording physiological data during sleep to identify sleep apnea or movement disorders.
• Data Management & Quality Control
  • Monitoring data feeds in real-time, identifying and eliminating electrical or movement artifacts (interference).
  • Recognizing medical emergencies, such as an active grand mal seizure during an EEG, and initiating immediate safety protocols.
  • Writing technical summaries of the findings, highlighting abnormal waveforms or delayed conduction speeds for the reading physician.
• Equipment & Administrative Duties
  • Sterilizing and maintaining sensitive electrodes, needles, and computerized neuro-diagnostic machinery.
  • Calibrizing equipment daily to ensure strict adherence to quality assurance standards.
  • Archiving digital records securely within the hospital's electronic health record (EHR) system.
