Job summary

Viasat is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Chennai to drive full-cycle software development for desktop-based full-stack projects. You will design, implement, test, and integrate software using .NET/C# and Python, while building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.

• 5+ years of development experience with .NET/C# and Python.
• Experience with .NET Core 8+ and production-grade deployment of NuGet packages.
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance.
• Proficiency with IDEs such as Visual Studio 2022 and VS Code.
• Knowledge of multi-threaded applications and IPC.
• Understanding of SOLID design principles and best practices.
• Experience with Git, JIRA, and Artifactory.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Software Engineer you will be performing full-cycle software development work as a member of a team on Full-Stack projects primarily Desktop application development. You will work on the requirements, design, implementation, integration, and testing of deployed software.

You are a capable self-starter, self-motivated software engineer, well-adapted in Software Development Life Cycle. You are also going to develop and maintain CI/CD life cycles and automation software.

The day-to-day

You will be involved into requirements analysis, use cases & user story analysis, high-and low-level design, implementation and unit test, system integration test, deployment monitoring, and sustaining product support.

Embracing the DevOps philosophy of product development, in addition to your design development activities you are also required to provide operational support of the post-production deployment. You will be responsible for mentoring juniors and technically guiding them.

What You'll Need

• 5+ years development experience preferably with .Net/C# and Python.
• Proven experience working with .Net Core 8 and above with production level deployment of nuget packages.
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance.
• Experience working with IDEs like Visual Studio 2022, VS Code.
• Knowledge of multi-threaded applications and inter-process communication (IPC).
• Proven experience in full software development cycle including requirement analysis, design, programming, testing, debugging.
• Experience in industry standard software design methodologies for development and documentation (eg. SOLID principles).
• Experience with SCM and issue tracking tools such as Git, Artifactory, JIRA
• A desire to solve sophisticated software and system issues.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and function in an integrated team that operates across multiple locations.
• Experience in technical leadership and mentoring for early career engineers.
• Experience as feature lead and driving features end to end.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering Disciplines.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

What Will Help You On The Job

• Experience with scripting languages (ie; Bash/Powershell).
• Knowledge of virtualization and experience with virtualization tools highly desired.
• Familiarity with RF instruments as added advantage.
• Having knowledge on AWS/Azure/GCP is an added advantage.
• Experience with a Message broker-based application development (such as RabbitMQ).
• Nice to have hands-on development experience with database and java script.
