Job summary

Ci4 - Autonomous Intelligence in Bengaluru seeks an experienced naval architect to own hull design for autonomous underwater and surface vehicles, from concept and hydrostatics through structural design, fabrication support and sea trials.

You will lead hull form analysis, pressure hull sizing, GA drawings, watertight integrity and on-site coordination with mechanical, systems and manufacturing teams to move designs from concept to trials.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in naval architecture or ship/submarine structural design, ideally on AUVs, USVs, or submarines.

Responsibilities

• Hull form design, hydrostatics, and hydrodynamic performance analysis (resistance, powering, stability) for AUVs and USVs
• Pressure hull design, sized and validated against classification society standards and target operating depth
• Structural design and FEA of hulls, fins, propellers, and other hydrodynamic components
• General arrangement (GA) drawings and space allocation across payload, batteries, propulsion, and control systems
• Watertight sealing and integrity design across hatches, penetrators, and structural interfaces
• Direct, on-site coordination with mechanical, systems, and manufacturing teams to take designs from concept through fabrication, integration, and trials

You will own hull design for our autonomous underwater and surface vehicles, from concept and hydrodynamic analysis through structural design, fabrication support, and sea trials. What you will own:

• Hull form design, hydrostatics, and hydrodynamic performance analysis (resistance, powering, stability) for AUVs and USVs
• Pressure hull design, sized and validated against classification society standards and target operating depth
• Structural design and FEA of hulls, fins, propellers, and other hydrodynamic components
• General arrangement (GA) drawings and space allocation across payload, batteries, propulsion, and control systems
• Watertight sealing and integrity design across hatches, penetrators, and structural interfaces
• Direct, on-site coordination with mechanical, systems, and manufacturing teams to take designs from concept through fabrication, integration, and trials

You have:

• 5+ years in naval architecture or ship/submarine structural design, ideally on AUVs, USVs, or submarines
• Working knowledge of classification society rules and how to design to them
• Hands-on experience with hydrostatics, stability, and hydrodynamic performance analysis
• Proficiency in naval architecture and CAD tools plus FEA
• Comfortable working on-site through fabrication, quality checks, and trials, not just at a desk
• Bonus: pressure hull design experience, DMR steel or similar high-strength materials, exposure to Indian Navy or defence procurement standards
