Job summary

eBay in Bengaluru seeks a senior software engineer to advance its advertising and marketing technology platform, delivering high-scale systems spanning frontend, backend, APIs, and data pipelines. You will own end-to-end design and delivery, collaborate with product, analytics, and ML teams, and apply AI-assisted development practices to boost velocity.

Applicants should have 8+ years of experience in Java and distributed systems, with a strong ownership mindset and experience with Kafka, Spring

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Computer Science or related field with 8 years of work experience, or MS with 6 years of relevant experience.
• Strong experience in Java (17+) and building services with Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
• Experience with scalable backend systems and RESTful APIs in distributed environments.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar).
• Experience with relational (Oracle/Postgres/MySQL) and/or NoSQL (Cassandra/MongoDB) databases, including schema design and query optimization.
• Familiar with Big Data stack (Hadoop, Spark, Flink etc).
• Proven ability to own end-to-end system design: writing technical design documents, leading design reviews, and making architectural decisions for multi-service features.
• Experience designing scalable distributed systems with a track record of evaluating trade-offs and driving technical alignment across teams.
• Experience with AI-assisted development practices and tools to increase engineering productivity (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent).
• Experience building or integrating LLM-powered features, agentic workflows, or AI-driven automation in production systems is a plus.
• Strong ownership mentality with ability to drive work end-to-end in a collaborative environment.
• Exposure to GraphQL and experience in building Federated GraphQL APIs is highly desirable.
• Experience on contributing to open-source is a plus.

Responsibilities
