Job description

Module Manager Neuroscience

We are looking for a Module Manager with expertise in Neuroscience to lead a team of life-science researchers who build and maintain a curated intelligence database of drugs, clinical trials, deals and companies for a leading global pharma intelligence platform. The database is organised into therapeutic-area, modality and target/pathway modules, and every record is manually curated to give pharma and biotech clients in-depth, decision-grade insight into their competitive landscape.

As Module Manager, you will own day-to-day delivery for your group of modules, covering both the maintenance of live modules and the build of new ones. You will be accountable for workflow and SLA delivery, data quality against defined benchmarks, the performance and growth of your team, and clear, proactive communication with our client.

This is a blended role. Part of your time is scientific: reviewing curated records, making scope and relevancy calls, and analysing quality trends. The rest is operational leadership: planning and tracking work, governing quality and process, and developing your people. It suits a life-science professional with team-leadership experience who wants to grow into management while staying close to the science.

The Work - What Our Teams Do
  • This work sits within a secondary, desk-based clinical research function. We do not run trials, recruit patients, monitor sites or handle patient-level data. Instead, our teams systematically identify, appraise, extract and structure publicly available clinical and preclinical evidence into decision-grade datasets that global pharma and biotech companies use to benchmark their pipelines.
  • Each module runs to a documented scope with formal inclusion and exclusion criteria. The work begins with SOP-driven surveillance of trial registries, scientific literature, conference disclosures, company pipelines, press releases and regulatory announcements. Each drug, trial, deal or company is then screened against the module s scope criteria. Our teams extract detailed trial-level data (design, arms, endpoints, eligibility, subgroup results, milestones) and drug-level data (developers, targets, mechanism of action, therapeutic class, formulation, delivery, CMC and preclinical pharmacology). Records are classified against proprietary ontologies and maintained under defined version-control and governance rules, with internal QA, error-trend analysis and ongoing scope calibration.
  • Our portfolio spans 20+ modules including Oncology, Neuroscience, Cardiovascular-Renal-Metabolic, Immunology, Inflammation, Autoimmune, Cell Therapy, Cancer Vaccines, Oncolytic Viruses, Checkpoint, DNA Damage Response, Antibody Drug Conjugates, Bispecific, Targeted Protein Degradation, Microbiome, Cytokine, RNA, Gene Therapy etc.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
Delivery Management Scientific Oversight
  • Own end-to-end delivery for an assigned portfolio of modules volumes, turnaround, backlog and coverage against service level agreements.
  • Act as the senior scientific escalation point for scope interpretation, dataset tagging decisions, classification disputes and ambiguous or conflicting source data.
  • Review curated records hands-on: verify scientific accuracy, completeness and consistency of trial and drug-level data before release.
  • Plan daily/weekly targets and allocate tasks across the team, anticipating peaks around client priority requests.
  • Track team productivity and ensure SLA compliance and on-time delivery across ongoing maintenance, new module builds and ad hoc tasks such as data clean-ups.
  • Plan and govern cross-team processes and hand-offs, including coordination between build and maintenance teams.
  • Govern central and group-specific trackers, keeping them accurate and up to date.
  • Own the module query log triage team queries, resolve what can be resolved locally, and escalte the rest.
  • Support business continuity, risk identification and mitigation planning for your portfolio.
Quality Assurance, SOP Governance Compliance
  • Drive the team to meet group quality benchmarks for curated drug and trial records before release, in line with internal standards and SLA s.
  • Run QC governance through regular SOP-based quality checks, sample-based spot checks and relevancy checks.
  • Interpret client sampling feedback and audit reports; identify error patterns and root causes, and convert them into targeted corrective action and refresher training.
  • Analyse quality trends, design data quality audits and clean-up projects, and present solution-oriented analytical reports with clear improvement plans.
  • Enforce publication and version-control governance for curated records.
  • Maintain, version-control and calibrate SOPs and working instructions in partnership with the client as scope, ontologies and data models evolve.
  • Ensure SOP compliance within the team, raise queries to clarify scope and improve data quality and flag inconsistencies across processes.
  • Support information security, data protection, confidentiality and process-compliance adherence within your teams.
Process Improvement
  • Identify and remove bottlenecks in the curation workflow; recommend and implement process improvements that raise throughput without diluting accuracy.
  • Define and track operational metrics productivity, quality scores, rework rates, cycle time and utilisation.
  • Evaluate and pilot AI-assisted and automation tools for source triage, extraction support and QC, with clear guardrails on scientific validation.
  • Standardise best practices across modules so improvements in one team propagate to the rest.
Reporting
  • Publish regular MIS reports on team performance and resource utilisation for Operations leadership.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of process changes, scope decisions and quality interventions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of data, reports and submissions requested by internal stakeholders and management.
People Management, Team Leadership Capability Building
  • Lead, coach and develop Senior Clinical Data Associates, QC Analysts and Researchers across your portfolio on SOPs, data accuracy and compliance.
  • Run agenda-driven weekly team calls with clear action items and follow-ups.
  • Provide hiring input and own operations onboarding, scientific induction and competency ramp-up for new researchers.
  • Drive performance management through goal setting, aptitude assessment, evaluation reports, regular one-to-ones, feedback and improvement plans and deliver targeted training where gaps are identified.
  • Manage attrition risk, engagement and motivation; build succession depth.
  • Provide Input and feedback to the Trainers to help build a structured training curriculum covering therapeutic-area knowledge, curation techniques and platform proficiency.
  • Demonstrate strong work ethics and lead by example in responsiveness, accountability and continuous learning.
