Job Title: Microsoft Information Protection Specialist / Architect

Exp: 4+ years

Role Overview

The Microsoft Information Protection Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-grade data security solutions using Microsoft Purview Information Protection and related technologies. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, protects sensitive information, and strengthens the organizations overall security posture.

Key Responsibilities

• Information Protection & Governance
  • Assess current data governance, classification, and protection posture.
  • Design and implement solutions using Microsoft Purview Information Protection.
  • Configure and manage sensitivity labels, label policies, and retention labels.
  • Develop and maintain architectural documents (HLD/LLD).
• Data Security Components
  • Implement Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies across Microsoft 365 workloads (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams).
  • Configure Office 365 Message Encryption and manage secure email communication.
  • Integrate Cloud App Security (CAS) with Azure Information Protection for data discovery and protection.
  • Apply Azure RMS for persistent encryption and rights management.
  • Manage SQL Encryption & Dynamic Data Masking for database security.
  • Utilize Azure Key Vault for secure key management.
  • Deploy Endpoint DLP to prevent accidental data leaks on devices.
• Compliance & Risk Management
  • Map business and regulatory requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS) to Microsoft Purview features.
  • Conduct regular audits and risk assessments.
  • Generate compliance and incident reports for stakeholders.
• Collaboration & Consulting
  • Work with IT and business units to identify sensitive data and compliance needs.
  • Provide consulting on optimal configurations and best practices.
  • Drive adoption of MIP and related security solutions across the enterprise.

Required Skills & Experience

• 4 to 10 years of experience in Information Security and Data Protection.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Purview Information Protection, DLP, and Azure RMS.
• Hands-on experience with sensitivity labels, SITs (Sensitive Information Types), and label policies.
• Familiarity with encryption technologies, CASB, and endpoint security.
• Certifications preferred:
  • Microsoft Certified: Information Protection Administrator (SC-400)
  • Microsoft Certified: Security Administrator Associate
  • CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
