Job summary

Barclays seeks a MicroFocus Analyst to drive the evolution of its digital infrastructure in Pune. You will work across Windows-based production and development environments, applying automation and scripting to improve reliability and performance.

You will interact with users across regions, triage incidents, analyze logs, and coordinate with vendors to ensure seamless platform availability and security. The role includes on-call duties and weekend support as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Micro Focus and related toolsets in enterprise IT environments.
  • Strong Windows administration and scripting capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Build, deploy, and maintain infrastructure solutions to meet reliability and scalability targets.
  • Monitor IT infrastructure and address issues to minimise outages and MTTR.

Essential Skills
  • Familiar with vendor technologies – Micro Focus\Rocket Enterprise suites, Verastream, Reflection, Windows, OpenText, Mainframe.
  • Hands on experience in Windows system administration and scripting knowledge.
  • Hands on experience supporting a Windows based production and development infrastructure.
  • Hands on experience in automation tools and java expertise.
  • Experience in supporting applications in the Cloud environment.
  • Prepared to work directly with users troubleshooting connectivity issues via email, chat, or ticketing system
  • Provide continuous monitoring and maintenance of applications and infrastructures to ensure critical host-based and core business applications remain accessible, secure, and fully integrated with modern platforms
  • Able to communicate effectively with users from different countries and management levels
  • Demonstrate expertise in problem solving such as writing code or scripts to scale down reported problems into discrete components that replicate issues.
  • Experience with working with vendors.
  • Possess high level analytic skills to review logs, dumps and traces to determine if reported issues are user error, expected behaviour or bugs.
  • Experience supporting 24x7 HA production environment.
  • Provide Weekend/On-Call work for repetitive tasks such as patching, server reboots, certificate renewals, supporting software upgrades (MQ, Autosys, DB2 Client), DCR tests

This role is based out of Pune.

Purpose of the role

To build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems, using hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms as required with the aim of ensuring that the infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and secure. Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through the application of software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response.

Accountabilities
  • Build Engineering: Development, delivery, and maintenance of high-quality infrastructure solutions to fulfil business requirements ensuring measurable reliability, performance, availability, and ease of use. Including the identification of the appropriate technologies and solutions to meet business, optimisation, and resourcing requirements.
  • Incident Management: Monitoring of IT infrastructure and system performance to measure, identify, address, and resolve any potential issues, vulnerabilities, or outages. Use of data to drive down mean time to resolution.
  • Automation: Development and implementation of automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention, utilising software scripting/coding disciplines.
  • Security: Implementation of a secure configuration and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber-attacks, vulnerabilities, and other security threats, including protection of hardware, software, and data from unauthorised access.
  • Teamwork: Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define IT Infrastructure requirements, devise solutions, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives via a data driven approach.
  • Learning: Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
