Overview
Materials & Processes Engineer (Metallic Technology) - Airbus India Private Limited. Develop materials and manufacturing processes for metallic technology, collaborating with material suppliers, defining strategy, and supporting qualification processes to ensure availability and safety of materials for aircraft development and service.
Responsibilities
- Develop and harmonize mature, robust material and process specifications for Metallic Technology.
- Generate and provide engineering metallic material and process data and allowable findings.
- Define, specify, and validate manufacturing processes to ensure correct, mature materials and manufacturing.
- Provide metal technology expertise to Programs, CoE, Procurement, Quality, Customer Service and projects during aircraft development and service (plateau, multifunctional teams).
- Evaluate material-related deviations from definition documents and support failure analysis for test cell, manufacturing and in-service issues.
- Oversee the complete material value chain from materials origin to recycling.
- Practice project management with weekly/monthly reports, schedules, risk mitigation, and monitoring of qualification activities.
- Participate in Airbus clean sky and other environment initiatives; adhere to procedures and continuously develop as an M&P Engineer.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 5-8 years.
- Education: Masters or Bachelors in Materials / Metallurgy / Mechanical.
- In-depth knowledge of metallic materials and their implementation as products, including technical qualification, material assessment, test plans, and analysis of results.
- Strong knowledge of aerospace materials such as aluminum, titanium, and special steels.
- Experience with statistical analysis and interpretation of test results, failure reports, etc.
- Experience with material testing (mechanical - tensile, fatigue, crack propagation) and interpretation of test results.
- Exposure to manufacturing processes (casting, forging) and advanced technologies such as additive manufacturing is desirable.
- Knowledge of international standards (SAE, ASTM, ISO, BS, etc.) and aerospace materials.
- Proficiency with technical documentation tools (MS Office, project management tools).
- Strong stakeholder management and ability to liaise with internal/external customers, test laboratories, and research centers.
- Ability to create technical documentation such as product standards, technical specifications, test plans, and test reports.
- Simulation skills on manufacturing/assembly/industrial processes and familiarity with relevant tools/software are an added advantage.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate at all levels; solution-oriented mindset.
- Team player with ability to perform in an agile environment.
- Strong project management skills in a multicultural environment.
- Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
