The role focuses on delivering evidence-based medical oncology treatment, coordinating multidisciplinary cancer care, and contributing to clinical governance and academic activity.

Consultant Medical Oncologist (DM / DrNB / DNB)

Role & Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient medical oncology care: assess, stage, and formulate personalised treatment plans for solid tumours and haematologic malignancies.
  • Prescribe and supervise systemic therapies including cytotoxic chemotherapy, targeted agents, and immune‑oncology drugs; oversee safe chemotherapy administration and documentation.
  • Lead and participate in multidisciplinary tumour boards, coordinating with surgical, radiation, pathology and radiology teams to optimise patient outcomes.
  • Perform or supervise relevant procedures (e.g., bone marrow aspiration/biopsy, central venous access management) and ensure adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
  • Contribute to clinical governance: maintain accurate EMR records, review outcomes, report adverse drug events, and implement quality‑improvement practices.
  • Drive academic and research initiatives: enrol eligible patients in clinical trials, supervise trainees, deliver teaching rounds, and present case reviews.
Skills & Qualifications
Must‑Have
  • DM/DrNB/DNB in Medical Oncology or equivalent recognised postgraduate oncology qualification.
  • Valid registration with NMC/MCI or respective State Medical Council and eligibility to practice in India.
  • 2+ years (post‑qualification) clinical experience in medical oncology with demonstrated competency in chemotherapy protocols and outpatient/inpatient oncology care.
  • Strong knowledge of modern oncology therapies (targeted therapy, immunotherapy), toxicity management, and supportive/palliative care principles.
  • Excellent communication skills for informed consent, patient/family counselling, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Preferred
  • Experience in academic hospitals or cancer centres, involvement in investigator‑initiated or industry‑sponsored clinical trials.
  • Familiarity with oncology guidelines (NCCN/ESMO/AIIMS), EMR systems, and quality/safety frameworks in cancer care.
