Job summary

Harris Computer is seeking a skilled ED Medical Coder to review ED records and assign precise ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for evaluations and procedures. You will apply MDM guidelines to select the correct ED level and ensure compliance with regulations.

You will collaborate with ED physicians and staff, assign modifiers as required, and educate providers on documentation for MDM components. A CPC/COC/CCS certification and 3 years in ED coding are preferred.

Qualifications

• Certification in medical coding (CPC/COC/CCS or equivalent).
• Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department coding experience.
• Strong understanding of MDM table application for E/M coding.
• Thorough knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.

• Apply Medical Decision Making (MDM) table guidelines to determine the correct E/M level for ED visits.
• Ensure coding compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific regulations.
• Collaborate with ED physicians / clinical staff / internal team to resolve coding discrepancies and documentation gaps.
• Appropriate modifiers in accordance with coding guidelines and payer requirements.
