Capgemini Engineering in India is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our offshore engineering team, developing automated mobile heavy equipment and applying 3D CAD skills from concept through production release.

You will create concept alternatives, develop enclosures and mounts, maintain large assemblies in a cloud CAD environment, and ensure designs meet manufacturability and field durability, collaborating with US counterparts.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• 5 to 7 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in automation, robotics, automotive, industrial equipment, or heavy machinery.
• Strong industrial design skills with experience in concept development, product appearance, ergonomics, and hardware design.
• Proficient in 3D CAD tools, preferably Onshape; experience with SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or NX is also valuable.
• Experience working in large CAD assemblies with multiple users and version control.
• Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards (ASME Y14.5 or ISO).

Responsabilidades

• Develop mechanical designs from concept through 3D models, drawings, and production release.
• Apply industrial design principles to hardware operating in demanding environments.
• Build and maintain parametric CAD models and large assemblies in a cloud-based environment.
• Produce manufacturing-ready drawings with GD&T, BOMs, and change documentation.
• Apply DFM and DFA to reduce part count, cost, and assembly time.
• Create concept alternatives, renderings, and design studies for decision-making.
• Develop enclosures, brackets, mounts, guards, covers, and operator-facing hardware in various forms.
• Maintain CAD data hygiene, part numbering, revision control, and design libraries.

Your Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our offshore engineering team in India, supporting the development of automated mobile heavy equipment that removes humans from the dull, dirty, and dangerous jobs. In this role, you will apply industrial design thinking and strong real-time 3D CAD skills to develop mechanical hardware from concept through production release. You will work closely with engineering, product, and manufacturing counterparts in the United States, contributing designs that balance form, function, manufacturability, and field durability.

• Develop mechanical designs from concept sketches through detailed 3D models, drawings, and production release.
• Apply industrial design principles — ergonomics, human factors, serviceability, proportion, and product aesthetics — to hardware that operates in demanding field environments.
• Build and maintain parametric 3D CAD models and large assemblies, working in real time within a cloud‑based CAD environment shared across geographies.
• Produce manufacturing‑ready detail drawings with GD&T, tolerances, bills of material, and engineering change documentation.
• Apply design‑for‑manufacturing (DFM) and design‑for‑assembly (DFA) principles to reduce part count, cost, and assembly time.
• Create concept alternatives, renderings, and design studies to support early decision‑making and design reviews.
• Develop enclosures, brackets, mounts, guards, covers, and operator‑facing hardware in sheet metal, machined, molded, and fabricated forms.
• Maintain CAD data hygiene, part numbering, revision control, and design libraries in line with team standards.

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• 5 to 7 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in automation, robotics, automotive, industrial equipment, or heavy machinery.
• Strong industrial design skills with experience in concept development, product appearance, ergonomics, and hardware design.
• Proficient in 3D CAD tools, preferably On shape; experience with SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or NX is also valuable.
• Experience working in large CAD assemblies with multiple users while maintaining proper version control and configurations.
• Good knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering drawing standards (ASME Y14.5 or ISO).
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, casting, extrusion, and injection molding.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly document and explain designs.
• Self‑motivated and capable of managing tasks independently with minimal supervision.
• Good understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
