Job summary

Tekskills is hiring a Mechanical Engineer in Bangalore with 3+ years of mechanical design and simulation experience. The role involves designing battery pack assemblies, coordinating with electrical teams, and performing extensive simulations to ensure reliability.

The candidate will use SolidWorks for design, have knowledge of plastics, sheet metal, die-casting, and GD&T. Familiarity with FMEA and manufacturing processes is desirable.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of mechanical design and simulation experience.
• BE/B.TECH in Mechanical Engineering/equivalent.
• Experience in Li-ion battery pack design is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze customer requirements, standards, and product requirements to prepare mechanical requirement specs.
• Prepare mechanical design for Battery pack assemblies including plastic enclosures, sheet metal brackets, die-cast parts, busbars, insulation, sealing and assembly techniques using SolidWorks.
• Estimate effort for mechanical design and development.
• Coordinate with circuit team to layout electrical components like circuit boards, relays, fuses, and wiring harnesses.
• Perform design calculations (clearance/creepage), FE simulations (resonance, vibration, thermal, static), and PCB strain analysis.
• Apply DFM and DFA guidelines to meet manufacturing/assembly needs.
• Assess design risk with FMEA per AIAG-VDA approach.
• Create 2D manufacturing drawings and conduct tolerance stack-up studies.
• Prepare test plans and test cases for battery components.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

EDUCATION :

• BE/B.TECH in Mechanical Engineering/equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

• 3 Years of experience in Mechanical design and preferably having experience in simulation, prototype making for Li-ion battery pack.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyze the customer requirements, standards, product requirements and prepare detailed mechanical requirement specification.
• Prepare mechanical design for Battery pack assembly Plastic enclosures, sheet metal brackets, Die-cast part, Busbars, Insulation sheet design, sealing, assembly techniques, etc. using SolidWorks.
• Estimate effort planning for Mechanical design and development.
• Coordinate with Circuit team to prepare design layout for electrical components like – Circuit board, relay, fuse, wiring harness, etc.
• Perform design calculations like clearance-creepage, Perform FE simulations like Resonance, Vibration (Random and Sweep), Mechanical Shock, Thermal Shock, Static Simulations, Crush Analysis, PCB Strain Analysis.
• Apply Design For Manufacturing and Design For Assembly guidelines in the design to meet manufacturing and Assembly requirements
• Analyze the Risk in the design by FMEA methodology in accordance with AIAG-VDA approach.
• Prepare 2D Manufacturing drawings, conduct tolerance stack-up studies.
• Prepare test plans, test cases and testing of battery components to confirm the requirements.

SKILLSETS:

• Knowledge on CAD Software preferably SolidWorks and preferably knowledge on any simulation software like Abaqus. (Knowledge on StarCCM is added advantage)
• Knowledge on plastic, sheetmetal, die-casting.
• Knowledge on material selection based on various properties.
• Preferably have knowledge on GD&T and Tolerance Stack-up.
• Knowledge on manufacturing techniques – Injection molding, stamping, machining, etc.
