Job summary

Xylem Vadodara GCC seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to sustain engineering, value engineering, and product lifecycle management for water technologies. You will standardize, optimize costs, and maintain products across water and wastewater domains.

You will lead ECR/ECN, provide CAD support (Inventor/Creo/SolidWorks), perform FMEA/DFMA, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability and regulatory compliance from concept to production.

Qualifications

• Must have CAD proficiency with at least one platform (Inventor preferred; Creo/SolidWorks welcome).
• Hands-on manufacturing experience and/or OEM background.
• Experience with sustaining engineering, value engineering, and product lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Lead sustain engineering activities for existing and legacy products, including standardization and design optimization.
• Execute value engineering projects to reduce cost, improve manufacturability, and enhance product performance.
• Manage engineering change requests (ECR) and change notices (ECN) with cross-functional teams.
• Provide CAD support for design modifications, legacy product conversions, and documentation updates.
• Collaborate with suppliers, production, and cross-functional teams to resolve technical queries and ensure material/design compliance.
• Design and calculation of mechanical/electromechanical components and assemblies.
• Perform technical risk analysis and FMEA/DFMA for design validation.

The position plays a key role in advancing Xylem’s water treatment technology capabilities, with a strong focus on product lifecycle management, cost optimization, standardization, and continuous improvement. This role is central to maintaining and enhancing existing products, driving value engineering and standardization initiatives, and supporting sustain engineering activities that strengthen Xylem’s portfolio in water and wastewater treatment technologies.
