Job summary

Abacus Service is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer proficient in Catia V5 for aerospace seating components. The role focuses on 3D modeling of machined parts, sheet metal brackets, and injection-molded parts for business and economy class seats, with emphasis on DFMA and manufacturability.

The candidate will create GD&T drawings, read existing drawings for materials, and participate in New Product Development while coordinating interfaces with system manufacturers and onsite

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent engineering degree is required.
• Strong knowledge of Catia V5 workbenches including Part Design, Generative Shape Design, Assembly, Drafting, and Generative Sheet Metal.
• Familiarity with Catia V5 SKE system and mechanical sheet metal bracket feasibility is important.
• Experience with PLM tools, especially Teamcenter with ECN/ECR, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design three-dimensional models for aerospace seating components including machined parts, sheet metal brackets and injection-m molded parts.
• Create detailed mechanical drawings using GD&T in line with engineering standards; read drawings to verify materials and manufacturability.
• Participate in New Product Development (NPD) for aircraft seating components and ensure DFMA considerations are addressed.
• Establish project roadmaps, analyze work samples and develop standards for customer use.
• Coordinate mechanical and electrical interfaces with system manufacturers and other departments; support onsite coordinators and oversee installations.
• Propose material changes with correct specifications to improve functionality, aesthetics and weight.
• Prepare BOMs and production drawings; maintain project documentation; provide training to junior team members.
