About the Opportunity

Healthcare — Acute Care & Critical Care Services: A high-volume tertiary and emergency care setting in India delivering 24/7 emergency department (ED) and intensive care for adult and paediatric patients. The role focuses on stabilising critically ill patients, improving acute-care pathways, and driving clinical quality in a multidisciplinary hospital environment.

Primary Title

Emergency Medicine Consultant (Critical Care Specialist) — On-site (India)

Role & Responsibilities
  • Provide direct clinical leadership in the ED and ICU: lead resuscitations, oversee triage decisions, and manage immediate life‑threatening conditions.
  • Perform advanced airway management and critical procedures including rapid sequence intubation, central and arterial line placement, and emergency chest decompression when indicated.
  • Manage ventilated patients and titrate vasoactive therapies—optimise ventilator settings, lead weaning, and troubleshoot respiratory failure.
  • Implement and drive sepsis protocols, early goal‑directed therapy, and evidence‑based critical care bundles to reduce morbidity and mortality.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (anaesthesia, surgery, cardiology, radiology, nursing) for seamless handovers, ICU admissions, and step‑down planning.
  • Develop clinical protocols, participate in morbidity & mortality reviews, mentor trainees, and contribute to quality improvement and clinical governance initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
  • MBBS with MD/DNB in Emergency Medicine or MD/DNB/DM in Critical Care (or equivalent); valid Indian medical registration.
  • Proven experience managing high‑acuity ED and ICU patients with independent decision‑making in emergency resuscitations.
  • Clinical competencies: rapid sequence intubation, mechanical ventilation management, central venous and arterial line insertion, vasopressor/inotrope management, and sepsis bundle implementation.
  • Certifications and clinical tools: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and proficiency in point‑of‑care ultrasound (POCUS) for emergency/critical care.
Preferred
  • Fellowship or additional training in Critical Care Medicine or Emergency Ultrasound; ECMO exposure is a plus.
  • Experience in clinical teaching, protocol development, audit, and academic publications in emergency or critical care.
