Mercor is seeking PhD holders, doctoral candidates, and exceptional Master’s graduates in Mathematics or related fields to join a high‑impact AI research initiative in collaboration with a leading global AI lab. In this role, you will apply your advanced mathematical expertise to evaluate and refine large language models (LLMs), ensuring they demonstrate precision, logical depth, and rigor in solving both graduate‑level mathematics and Olympiad‑style competition problems. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting‑edge AI research while working remotely and flexibly from India.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate the accuracy, structure, and depth of AI‑generated solutions to advanced mathematical problems.
• Assess model reasoning across topics such as algebra, number theory, geometry, combinatorics, calculus, and logic.
• Use structured rubrics (8–10 questions) to score model outputs and provide concise written explanations of your evaluations.
• Identify reasoning flaws, incomplete derivations, or conceptual gaps in model‑generated responses.
• Collaborate asynchronously with technical teams, adhering to evaluation standards and timelines.

Ideal Qualifications

• PhD or current PhD candidate in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related STEM field.
