Job summary

Highlands Info Tech in India is seeking a QA Manual Tester to perform comprehensive manual testing of desktop-based applications, ensuring functionality, stability, and performance across environments.

The candidate will independently perform Smoke, Sanity, and Regression testing, validate installations and upgrades through build verification, create and maintain test cases, log defects in Jira/Azure DevOps, and collaborate with developers and product teams throughout the SDLC.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of hands-on manual testing experience.
• Strong validation of install/upgrade processes, including silent installs and registry checks.
• Experience with Jira or Azure DevOps for defect tracking.
• Understanding of SDLC and QA methodologies.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive manual testing of desktop-based applications, ensuring functionality, stability, and performance across different environments.
• Can independently perform Smoke, Sanity, and Regression testing.
• Validate software installations and upgrades through build verification testing, including checks for installation integrity, silent installs, upgrade validation, and registry/configuration verification.
• Create, execute, and maintain test cases, test scenarios, and test data based on business and technical requirements.
• Log and track defects using project management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
• Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, technical support teams, and other QA team members throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Analyze requirements and identify edge cases, potential failures, and usability issues.
• Participate in root cause analysis and help improve software quality through feedback loops.
• Participate in test planning, requirement reviews, and release readiness discussions.
• Exposure to testing tools or scripting for automation (even basic knowledge).
• Experience specifically in testing Windows-based/desktop applications.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

• One year to five years of hands-on experience in manual testing.
• Strong understanding of build installation validation, including silent installations, upgrade paths, rollback scenarios, and registry/configuration validation.
• Familiarity with bug tracking and project management tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Good understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and QA methodologies.

Nice to Have:

• Exposure to testing tools or scripting for automation (even basic knowledge).
• Experience specifically in testing Windows-based/desktop applications.
