Job Description:
The Manager – Taxation will serve as a key tax subject matter expert within the Global Shared Services organization, with ownership of India tax compliance, tax accounting, reporting, audits, assessments, and advisory support. The role requires strong technical depth in Indian direct and indirect taxation, transfer pricing, APA matters, withholding taxes, and financial statement tax disclosures, along with practical exposure to US tax compliance and cross-border tax matters. This is an individual contributor role requiring the incumbent to operate with a high degree of independence, partner effectively with internal finance, legal, treasury, controllership, and business teams, and manage external advisors, auditors, and tax authorities in a professional and timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage India direct tax compliance, including corporate income tax returns, advance tax computations, tax audit requirements, and related statutory filings.
- Lead indirect tax compliance activities, including GST return filings, reconciliations, input tax credit reviews, assessments, notices, and advisory support to business and finance teams.
- Manage withholding tax compliance, including TDS applicability review, monthly payments, quarterly returns, reconciliations, certificates, and related advisory matters.
- Support transfer pricing compliance, including intercompany transaction review, TP documentation, Form 3CEB, benchmarking coordination, and alignment with global tax policies.
- Coordinate APA-related submissions, information requests, renewals, and discussions with consultants and tax authorities, where applicable.
- Prepare and review tax provisions, current tax, deferred tax, effective tax rate analysis, uncertain tax positions, and financial statement tax disclosures under applicable accounting standards.
- Support US tax compliance and reporting processes, including coordination with external advisors on federal, state, and cross-border tax matters.
- Manage tax assessments, notices, litigation support, audits, and responses to tax authorities in coordination with external consultants and internal stakeholders.
- Partner with finance, controllership, legal, treasury, procurement, and business teams on tax implications of transactions, contracts, intercompany charges, and business initiatives.
- Drive process improvements, automation, documentation discipline, and governance around tax compliance calendars, reconciliations, trackers, and audit-ready working papers.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA).
- 5–7 years of relevant post-qualification experience in taxation, preferably within a multinational organization, Big 4 firm, or large corporate environment.
- Strong background in India corporate taxation, GST, TDS, transfer pricing, and tax accounting.
- Working exposure to US tax compliance, tax provisioning, or cross-border tax matters will be preferred.
- Experience working with external tax advisors, auditors, and internal finance stakeholders in a corporate setup
