Job summary

This Hyderabad-based company seeks a seasoned procurement leader to optimize global sourcing, manage supplier performance, and balance cost with delivery commitments.

The role focuses on strategic sourcing of transformer materials, supplier onboarding, contract negotiations, and cost-automation through ERP/MRP systems.

Qualifications

• 8–15 years in transformer or heavy electrical equipment procurement.
• Experience sourcing from domestic and international suppliers.
• Prior experience with transformer component vendors is highly desirable.
• Ability to read drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
• Strong negotiation, supplier management and contract skills.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and data-driven decisions.
• Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites and ports across India.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sourcing strategies for transformer materials and components.
• Identify, onboard, and manage global and domestic suppliers.
• Negotiate long-term price agreements and lead times.
• Convert BOMs into POs and track order status to align with production.
• Maintain cost-normalized procurement through ERP/MRP accuracy.

Job description

To ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality procurement of transformer components required for

production — balancing delivery commitments, supplier performance, and cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management

• Develop and implement sourcing strategies for key transformer materials — core steel, copper conductors, insulation materials, bushings, tap changers, oil, and hardware.
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard global and domestic suppliers for critical components.
• Negotiate long-term price agreements, lead time commitments, and performance clauses.
• Build alternate vendor base to de-risk supply chain.

2. Procurement Operations

• Convert approved BOMs into purchase orders based on project schedules.
• Track order status, manage delays, and ensure material availability aligns with production plan.
• Coordinate with planning and engineering to prioritize and expedite critical items.
• Maintain ERP/MRP accuracy for lead times, min-max levels, and procurement costs.

3. Cost & Commercial Management

• Drive cost reduction through volume leverage, value engineering, and global sourcing.
• Benchmark prices periodically to maintain competitiveness.
• Analyze landed cost impacts for imported components (freight, duties, logistics).
• Ensure timely vendor payments, credit terms optimization, and budget adherence.

4. Quality & Compliance

• Develop vendor scorecards for delivery reliability, quality, and cost competitiveness.
• Work closely with Quality and Engineering teams to ensure supplier compliance with IEEE/ANSI and internal standards.
• Drive vendor audits and material inspection protocols.
• Ensure REACH/RoHS/environmental and safety compliance for materials.

• Supplier negotiation and contract management skills.

Qualifications

• Education: B.E/B.Tech in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. MBA preferred.
• Experience: 8–15 years in transformer or heavy electrical equipment procurement.
• Experience in sourcing from both domestic and international suppliers.
• Prior experience with transformer component vendors is highly desirable.
• Preferred Base: Hyderabad, Prayagraj
• Regular travel to manufacturing sites (Hyderabad and across India) & ports.
