Job summary

Standard Chartered in India seeks an experienced Onboarding & KYC specialist to drive account opening, KYC, CKYC, and documentation reviews with regulators and clients. You will lead process improvements, coordinate with implementation teams, and ensure timely, accurate data updates while adhering to service standards.

You will also mentor a team, manage risk controls, and collaborate with product and servicing units to support IB/treasury functions.

Responsibilities

  • Institutionalise the Account opening, KYC and maintenance process for implementation and servicing teams and clients.
  • Participate in local product development and sales initiatives related to FPI KYC and account opening.
  • Participate in the bank’s A3 initiative and deliver/implement it.
  • Manage operational relationship for interface with implementation and servicing teams.
  • Serve as focal point with regulators and clients on account opening and KYC related processes.
  • Facilitate smooth, error-free account opening and maintenance.
  • Review account opening, closure and related documents and provide review comments.
  • Monitor outstanding documents and follow up with teams for completion.
  • Regulatory monitor and maintain Service Standards.
  • Liaise with Regulator, KRA, Depositary, Exchange as required.
  • Ensure timely and accurate KYC/CKYC data updation.
  • Ensure activities completed within agreed TAT and service standards.
  • Ensure scanning and vaulting of client documents timely and accurate.
  • Be an efficient backup for Static Data operations.
  • Help build work-life balance for self and team.
  • Motivate team towards better performance.
  • Encourage collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • Determine training needs and initiate internal training sessions.
  • Give regular feedback to team members.
  • Develop a career road map for staff to keep engagement levels high.
  • Support Head, Securities Services in planning and controlling staffing and training needs.
  • Keep teams updated on regulatory changes in FPI KYC and account-opening procedures.
  • Undertake periodic self-assessment on key controls to assess adequacy of existing controls.
  • Ensure awareness of procedures and policies impacting Account opening & KYC.
  • Instil alertness for suspicious transactions and escalate to LM.
  • Ensure timely completion of mandatory e-learnings.
  • Comply with applicable MLPA guidelines.
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by Group Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding ethics and compliance across Standard Chartered Bank.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy
  • To institutionalise the Account opening, KYC and maintenance process so that is well defined for the implementation and servicing teams, as well as clients.
  • To participate in the local product development and sales initiatives related to FPI KYC and account opening perspective.
  • To participate in the bank’s A3 initiative and deliver / implement the same.
Business
  • To manage the operational relationship for interface with implementation and servicing teams.
  • To serve as a focal point of contact with implementation and servicing teams, and regulators and clients, with regard to account opening and KYC related processes.
Processes
  • To facilitate the process of account opening and maintenance to be smooth, error free and timely.
  • To facilitate the review of account opening, closure and other miscellaneous related documents and revert to respective stakeholder with review comments.
  • To monitor the outstanding documents and follow up with Implementation/Client Servicing team for completion.
  • To Regulatory monitor and maintain Service Standards.
  • To liaise Regulator, KRA, Depositary, Exchange whenever required
  • To ensure timely and accurate updation of KYC and CKYC data.
  • To ensure that activities are completed within agreed TAT and service standards.

  • To be an efficient back up for Static Data operations.
