Organization Overview:

The Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL) Learning and Development Manager supports the implementation of learning and performance solutions. This role ensures LRL personnel are qualified and capable of performing their job responsibilities, fulfilling compliance requirements, and continually increasing their contribution to the business.

Responsibilities:

Learning and Performance Support

1. Build relationships with functional leaders and business partners, leveraging organizational knowledge to support business results.
2. Provide instructional design expertise, feedback, and guidance for content created by the business to ensure adherence to adult learning and instructional design principles.
3. Anticipate and resolve complex problems.
4. Serve as a key resource within a business area.

Learning Solution Analysis, Design, and Development

1. Conduct needs and target audience analysis to identify learning and performance gaps.
2. Develop innovative deliverables that provide meaningful and learner-centric solutions, as appropriate.
3. Apply effective project management to ensure timely delivery of the performance solution.
4. Effectively utilize technology to support development of learning and performance solutions (e.g., IT tools, video technology, etc.) and ensure they can be integrated with Lilly systems.
5. Partner with Lilly select supplier and manage procurement activities, when needed.
6. Manage budget for small- to medium-size projects or programs.
7. Manage Transfer of Training to external partners, as appropriate.

Implementation

1. Develop and lead plan to ensure timely implementation of learning solutions in cooperation with other L&D personnel and business partners.

Evaluation

1. Develop appropriate evaluation plans for learning and performance solutions, when appropriate.

Curriculum Management

1. Consult with business partners to establish and maintain curriculum architecture consistent with the LRL Training strategy.
2. Lead efforts to ensure curriculum assignments support personnel qualification.

Audits/Inspections

1. Support audit/inspection readiness.
2. Support audit/inspection execution.

Coaching and Personal Development

1. Establish a network of internal and external learning and business professionals and benchmark as appropriate.

Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher, in education, instructional design, performance technology, sciences, or related programs.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in relevant fields.
• Demonstrated excellence with standard IT tools such as Microsoft 365, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated ability in communication, conflict resolution, using good judgment, and managing complexity.
• Demonstrated ability to establish strong business relationships.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, fluent (verbal and written) in English.
• Ability to operate effectively in an international matrix environment.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

• M.S. degree in Instructional Systems Technology, Performance Technology, Adult Learning, or related experience/education.
• Human Performance Improvement (HPI) Certification.
• Experience working in a GxP-regulated environment.
• Experience using learning management software (such as SuccessFactors) and learning request tools (such as ServiceNow).
• Demonstrated expertise in facilitating training sessions, including the ability to engage participants, manage group dynamics, and ensure effective learning outcomes.
• Knowledge of LRL business and structure.
• Demonstrated ability to scope and lead projects.
• Demonstrated success in influencing without authority.
• Effective problem-solving skills to evaluate and resolve business and organizational problems.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to coach others.
