Job summary

Rocket Homes Real Estate LLC is seeking a Team Leader for IT Infrastructure (Storage Engineering) to design, deploy, and optimize storage and data protection across on-premises and cloud environments. You will troubleshoot complex storage issues and collaborate with infrastructure, database, application, network, security, and cloud teams to ensure reliable, scalable storage services.

Team Leader - IT Infrastructure (Storage Engineering)

As a Team Leader - IT Infrastructure (Storage Engineering), you'll design, configure, maintain, monitor, and optimize enterprise storage and data protection platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. You'll troubleshoot complex storage and connectivity issues and collaborate with infrastructure, database, application, network, security, and cloud engineering teams to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable storage services.

About the role

Configure, manage, and monitor enterprise storage, backup, archival, and data protection platforms. Troubleshoot storage-related issues and collaborate with server engineers, database administrators, application owners, network engineers, and other technology teams as needed. Manage and monitor storage platform connectivity, availability, capacity, performance, and health. Monitor resource utilization and performance trends, and perform capacity planning for anticipated growth. Fulfill storage, backup, archival, recovery, and data protection requirements for internal systems and applications. Support storage automation and self-service capabilities to improve provisioning efficiency and operational consistency. Produce and maintain architecture diagrams, operational procedures, technical standards, and support documentation. Participate in an on-call rotation and provide support outside standard business hours when required.

About you

Analytical thinker with a structured and creative approach to problem-solving. Excellent communication, time-management, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Able to create and maintain clear, accurate technical documentation and operational procedures. Proficient in configuring, managing, and monitoring enterprise storage and archival platforms. Skilled in supporting capacity, backup, recovery, and data protection requirements for enterprise systems. Effective troubleshooter who can collaborate across server, database, application, network, security, and cloud engineering teams. Comfortable working with internal customers and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.

Minimum qualifications

• Experience designing, building, and operating object and cloud storage solutions using technologies such as Ceph, Amazon S3, and Amazon EBS.
• Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, including source control with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or OpenTofu.
• Programming, scripting, and automation experience using technologies such as PowerShell, Python, Go, YAML, and Ansible.
• Experience developing APIs and automation for storage resource management, including self-service provisioning, platform upgrades, object-storage buckets, volumes, and file shares.
• Experience supporting Kubernetes environments such as K3s, RKE2, and Amazon EKS, including storage integration using Container Storage Interface (CSI) drivers.
• Experience implementing storage solutions in alignment with organizational security requirements, data protection standards, and cloud security best practices.
• Experience monitoring storage utilization, capacity, availability, latency, throughput, and other performance metrics, with the ability to plan for anticipated growth.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and work flexible hours as required.

Preferred qualifications

• Working knowledge of enterprise storage protocols, network file systems, and related connectivity concepts, including NVMe over Fabrics (NVMe-oF), Fibre Channel (FC), SMB/CIFS, and NFS.
• Experience with enterprise storage and virtualization platforms such as NetApp FAS and ONTAP, Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale and Unity, IBM FlashSystem 7300, and VMware ESXi 7.x/8.x.
• Knowledge of cloud storage services, cloud database platforms, and data warehousing technologies.
• Knowledge of cloud security, encryption, access control, data protection, and storage security best practices.
• Understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, backup/recovery, replication, business continuity, and recovery planning.
