Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to define and evolve cloud reference architectures across AWS and GCP, and to drive secure, cost‑effective, and scalable platform solutions. You will lead architecture reviews, mentor engineers, and partner with Security, FinOps, and Enterprise Architecture to embed guardrails and governance.

The role requires deep expertise in cloud services, IaC, and cloud security, with experience modeling multi‑cloud patterns for large product

Qualifications

• 10+ years in cloud or infrastructure engineering, with at least 6 years in a cloud architecture role designing solutions on AWS and/or GCP.
• Deep, hands-on understanding of core cloud services across compute, storage, networking, identity, and data, with the ability to design solutions that are secure, resilient, and cost effective.
• Proven experience defining reference architectures, design patterns, and guardrails that multiple teams adopt and reuse.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/OpenTofu) and version control (GitHub), including how to structure code for reuse across teams.
• Deep expertise in cloud security fundamentals, including identity and access management, encryption, and policy-as-code approaches to governance.
• Proven ability to document, communicate, and govern complex designs, and to influence technical direction across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve reference architectures and design patterns across AWS, GCP, and Azure covering compute, storage, networking, identity, and data services that product teams reuse.
• Establish architectural standards and guardrails for security, resilience, and cost efficiency, and ensure they are applied consistently across the product portfolio.
• Translate architectural decisions into Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines so designs are repeatable, versioned, and easy to adopt.
• Lead architecture reviews and provide technical direction on design trade-offs, with a focus on security posture, reliability, and total cost of ownership.
• Partner with Security to embed controls into platform designs, including identity and access management, encryption, network segmentation, and policy-as-code guardrails.
• Partner with FinOps to design cost-aware architectures, set tagging and accountability standards, and build cost efficiency into solutions from the start rather than as an afterthought.
• Partner with Enterprise Architecture leaders to establish architecture patterns and best practices across the Enterprise.
• Define standards for observability and operational readiness so that solutions are monitored, supportable, and resilient in production.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to product teams, mentoring engineers and guiding them in adopting standardized cloud patterns and best practices.

Job Description: Senior Cloud Architect - P5 Role Description

The Senior Cloud Architect sets and evolves the architectural direction for Carrier's cloud platform across AWS, GCP, and Azure. This role works horizontally across our product portfolio to ensure we build solutions that are consistently secure, resilient, and cost effective. The architect defines reference architectures, design patterns, and guardrails, then partners with Product Leads, Security, FinOps, and customer teams to put them into practice through Infrastructure as Code and automation. The result is a coherent, well-governed cloud foundation that product teams can build on with confidence.

Key Responsibilities

• Exposure to cloud governance frameworks such as AWS Control Tower or GCP Organization Policies, and to policy-as-code tooling.
• Professional certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional or Google Professional Cloud Architect.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing architectural direction across large enterprise organizations.
