You will manage a small team, ensure compliant filings, and spearhead automation initiatives using data and AI tools while aligning with business growth and regional requirements.

Qualifications

• Chartered accountant or equivalent qualification.
• 10+ years of progressive corporate tax experience with strong India tax expertise.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax reporting.
• Experience leading teams in a multinational environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to influence across functions.
• Strong technology aptitude to leverage data, automation and AI tools.
• Ability to operate independently with sound judgement and drive complex initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Manage the India tax team (team of 2), workload prioritization, coaching, and development.
• Prepare, review and support tax data extraction, mapping, reconciliations, calculations, and workpapers to support worldwide tax compliance and reporting.
• Partner with Accounting, Finance and external advisors to support India local tax filings, audits, assessments and notices.
• Monitor changes in India tax regulations and communicate potential impacts to the global tax team.
• Help build internal capabilities and ownership of India tax matters over time.
• Support business growth by providing tax guidance for India-related initiatives and transactions.
• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve tax processes; support automation and AI-enabled solutions.

The Manager - Tax & Operations is a highly visible role that combines hands-on tax execution with supervision of the India tax operations and growing responsibility for supporting India tax matters. In addition to the day-to-day tax responsibilities, this role offers the opportunity to help improve tax operations through process standardisation, technology, and automation. Working closely with the global tax team, the successful candidate will contribute to building scalable and efficient tax processes while supporting the evolving needs from the business.

A Day In The Life (Responsibilities)

Hub Supervision & Global Tax Operations Support

• Manage the India tax team (team of 2), including associated workload, prioritization, coaching, and professional development
• Prepare, review and support tax data extraction, mapping, reconciliations, calculations, and workpaper preparation to support worldwide tax compliance and reporting
• Promote consistency, quality, and scalability across tax processes and controls

India Tax Support & Compliance

• Partner with Accounting, Finance and external advisors to support India local tax filings, audits, assessments and notices
• Monitor changes in India tax regulations and communicate potential impacts to the global tax team
• Help build deeper internal capabilities and ownership of India tax matters over time
• Support business growth by providing tax guidance for India-related business initiatives and transactions

Process Improvement, Automation & AI

• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve tax processes across the global tax function
• Support development of standardized workpapers, data models, and repeatable processes for direct and indirect tax compliance
• Support implementation and adoption of technology, automation, and AI-enabled solutions to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability
• Contribute to the continued development of a centralized tax operations model

What You'll Need To Thrive (Requirements)

• Chartered accountant or any other equivalent qualification
• 10+ years of progressive corporate tax experience with strong India tax expertise
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and the interaction between accounting and tax reporting
• Experience leading teams and operating in a multinational environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions, cultures and levels of the organization
• Strong technology aptitude with the ability to leverage data, systems, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve tax processes and scalability.
• Demonstrated ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgement, and drive complex initiatives to successful completion
• Willingness to work flexible hours with global business
• Must be able to multitask, work efficiently under tight deadlines and proactively track and report progress
• Self-motivated to apply learned experiences and leverage best practices
• Work timings for the role would be 2 PM to 11 PM IST
• This is a hybrid role with 2 days per week in the Bangalore office

What Will Help You Stand Out (Nice To Have)

• Prior experience / knowledge with other transactional-based taxes (like GST, VAT etc.) or direct tax experience in India or other foreign jurisdictions
• Experience working with both local India accounting requirements and multinational reporting environments preferred
• Experience working within a shared services, global business services, or centralized operations environment
• Experience with Netsuite ERP/Zuora/Vertax, or similar tax and financial systems
• Experience driving process improvement, automation, data transformation or AI-enabled initiatives within a tax, finance or accounting function
