Job summary

Vodafone Group Plc's VOIS unit seeks a Global IP Engineer to join the Core Transport – International Networks team in Pune, India. The role focuses on managing, troubleshooting and optimizing enterprise network infrastructure with emphasis on Cisco ACI, routing, switching and security across multi-technology environments.

You will act as a key escalation point for critical incidents, drive RCA, and develop automation scripts.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching, including Nexus 7K/9K and Catalyst platforms.
• Strong understanding of MPLS and VRF segmentation, IPsec, BGP/OSPF/EIGRP routing.
• Proven expertise in Cisco ACI fabric and SDN concepts.
• Familiarity with ACI automation tools (Python, Ansible) and REST API for operations.
• Knowledge of firewall policies, load balancers and integration with ACI.
• Experience in incident handling, RCA documentation and change management processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level support to operations teams and ensure timely resolutions.
• Lead troubleshooting of high-severity network incidents involving MPLS, IPsec, and VRF.
• Configure and maintain APIC controllers, Nexus 9000 switches, and spine-leaf topology.
• Manage device lifecycle including upgrades, patches, and failover testing.
• Develop automation scripts for ACI operations.
• Monitor ACI health and address anomalies with dashboards, SNMP, and Syslog.
• Maintain network diagrams, configurations and procedures.
• Ensure security and operational standards and participate in change management.

About this Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Global IP Engineer to join our Core Transport – International Networks team within Vodafone Network Operations. Based in Pune, India, this role focuses on managing, troubleshooting, and optimising enterprise network infrastructure with a strong emphasis on Cisco ACI technology. The individual will act as a key escalation point for critical incidents, ensuring high availability and performance across complex multi-technology environments. This is a real-time operational role requiring deep expertise in routing, switching, data centre networks, and security technologies

What you’ll do

• Provide expert-level support and guidance to operations teams, ensuring timely resolution and knowledge transfer.
• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of high-severity network incidents involving MPLS, IPSEC, and VRF.
• Configure and maintain APIC controllers, Nexus 9000 switches, and spine-leaf topology.
• Manage lifecycle activities including device upgrades, patches, and failover testing.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues and propose preventive measures.
• Develop automation scripts using Python/Ansible for ACI operations.
• Monitor ACI health, fabric utilisation, and proactively address anomalies using APIC dashboards, SNMP, and Syslog.
• Maintain accurate documentation including network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Ensure compliance with security and operational standards and participate in change management processes.

Interface with vendors for support and escalation of hardware/software issues

Who you are

• Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching, including Nexus (7K/9K), Catalyst platforms, and VSS.
• Strong understanding of MPLS, VRF segmentation, IPSEC, BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP routing protocols.
• Proven expertise in Cisco ACI fabric and SDN concepts.
• Familiarity with ACI automation tools (Python, Ansible) and REST API for operational tasks.
• Good understanding of firewall policies, load balancers, and integration with ACI.
• Experience in incident handling, RCA documentation, and change management processes.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with strong communication capabilities.
• Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, and Cisco Data Centre Specialist or ACI-specific certifications are required.
