London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) is seeking a Risk Management Manager – Independent Validation to lead validation and QA across risk management activities. The role requires driving effective challenge, governance, and continuous improvement of risk assessments, control environments, and regulatory practices.

The candidate will report to the Senior Risk Manager in the COO Business Control Office - 1LOD and will collaborate with Embedded Risk Managers and control owners to uplift risk maturity

Qualifications

• 10-12 years of relevant experience in Risk Management, Internal Audit, Control Assurance, Independent Validation, or Operational Risk.

• Lead and oversee independent validation and quality assurance reviews across non-financial risk management activities, RCSA, issues, events, top and emerging risks, business continuity planning, IA actions, and business maturity assessments.
• Provide effective challenge to risk owners and stakeholders on the quality, completeness, and effectiveness of risk assessments, controls, remediation plans, and documentation.
• Design, execute, and continuously enhance validation methodologies, testing approaches, quality standards, and review frameworks.
• Perform thematic reviews to identify recurring control weaknesses, risk trends, process gaps, and opportunities for improvement.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Risk Management Manager - Independent Validation to join our Risk Management team. The candidate will be responsible for leading independent validation and quality assurance activities across the risk management framework, ensuring the effectiveness, completeness, and consistency of risk assessments, issue management, control environments, and regulatory compliance practices. The role will drive effective challenge, thematic insight, governance discipline, and continuous improvement across risk management processes and outcomes.

This role will report to Senior Risk Manager in the COO Business Control Office - 1LOD (Risk Management).

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee independent validation and quality assurance reviews across non-financial risk management activities, Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), issues, events, top and emerging risks, business continuity planning, Internal Audit (IA) actions, and business maturity assessments.
• Provide effective challenge to risk owners and stakeholders on the quality, completeness, and effectiveness of risk assessments, controls, remediation plans, and associated documentation.
• Design, execute, and continuously enhance validation methodologies, testing approaches, quality standards, and review frameworks.
• Perform thematic reviews to identify recurring control weaknesses, risk trends, process gaps, and opportunities for improvement across business functions.
• Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of risk management processes and controls, ensuring alignment with organisational risk standards and regulatory expectations.
• Review and assess issue management practices, including root cause analysis, remediation planning, closure evidence, and sustainable risk mitigation.
• Produce insightful reporting and management information, highlighting quality assurance outcomes, emerging concerns, common findings, and recommendations.
• Partner with Embedded Risk Managers, Control Owners, and business stakeholders to drive uplift initiatives and strengthen risk management maturity.
• Monitor adherence to London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) policies, risk management standards, and regulatory requirements through independent review and validation activities.
• Support Internal Audit, regulatory reviews, and other assurance functions through coordination, evidence review, and quality assessments.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and consistency of independent validation and quality assurance activities.
• Coach and mentor team members, fostering a culture of challenge, objectivity, continuous improvement, and high-quality risk management outcomes.

Skills Required

• Minimum of 10-12 years of relevant experience in Risk Management, Internal Audit, Control Assurance, Independent Validation, or Operational Risk.
• Strong knowledge of non-financial risk management frameworks, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience conducting assurance reviews, control testing, quality assurance, or independent validation activities.
• Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to provide constructive challenge and influence senior stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex findings to diverse audiences.
• Experience preparing executive-level reports and presenting assurance outcomes to governance forums.
• Proven ability to lead initiatives, manage stakeholders, and mentor team members.
• Experience working with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platforms and risk management processes.
