Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an experienced engineering leader to build and coach high-performing teams in Chennai.

  • Lead engineering delivery, sustainment, modernization, quality, reliability, and continuous improvement across productivity apps.
  • Balance customer commitments, product investments, technical debt, and priorities through planning and stakeholder alignment.
  • Apply product and customer domain knowledge to guide priorities and AI-enabled initiatives.
  • Champion modern engineering practices, automation, quality engineering, and DevOps.
  • Lead adoption of AI-enabled engineering tools and practices to boost productivity and velocity.
  • Drive change management to sustain engagement and delivery.
  • Collaborate with global product, architecture, quality, and engineering stakeholders.

What You Will Do:

What You Have (Basic Requirements):
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Managing People: Relentlessly committed to building, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Business and Domain Leadership: Strong understanding of onboard productivity applications, customer workflows, operational challenges, and business value.
  • Experience leading product delivery, sustainment, modernization, and continuous improvement while balancing customer, business, and technical needs.
  • Change Leadership: Ability to influence adoption of new tools, processes, AI-enabled practices, and ways of working.
  • Communicating for Impact: Ability to communicate directly, build alignment, and influence stakeholders across product and engineering organizations.
  • Technical Acumen : Sufficient technical depth to guide engineering decisions, provide effective leadership to engineering teams, and partner successfully with architects and technical leaders.
  • Experience working in Agile and/or SAFe development environments.

  • Demonstrated success driving organizational transformation, engineering excellence, and AI-enabled productivity improvements.
