Job summary

Europa Locks in Pune seeks a seasoned Tool Design Lead to drive end-to-end development of die-casting tooling for Aluminium and Zinc components. You will lead the design function, review DFM, mould flow analyses, and guide projects from concept to production.

Requires 12–15 years in HPDC tool design, strong CAD (Creo/NX/CATIA/SolidWorks), and proven leadership. You will mentor a design team, manage budgets, and drive continuous improvement to reduce tooling costs and improve die life.

Roles & Responsibility (Job Profile)
  • Lead and manage the Tool Design function for die-casting tools, ensuring timely and cost-effective project execution.
  • Drive complete tool development from concept design to production release for Aluminium and Zinc die-casting components.
  • Review and approve tool designs, DFM studies, mould flow analysis, and engineering changes.
  • Lead design reviews and ensure compliance with customer requirements, quality standards, and internal design guidelines.
  • Manage project planning, resource allocation, budgets, and on-time delivery of tooling projects.
  • Coordinate with Product Development, Production, Quality, Tool Room, Maintenance, Vendors, and Customers for successful project execution.
  • Guide the team during tool trials, validation, troubleshooting, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce tooling costs, improve die life, enhance productivity, and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and standardize tool design practices, engineering documentation, and design standards.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing design team through performance management, training, and skill development.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, simulation tools, materials, and best practices to improve tool performance and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by providing technical support, participating in technical discussions, and delivering robust tooling solutions.
Competency (Candidate Profile)
  • Education: NTTF/GTTC / B.E. / B. Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Tool Engineering (M. Tech preferred).
  • Experience: 12–15 years in die-casting tool design (HPDC preferred) with experience in complete tool development from concept to production.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of HPDC/LPDC/GDC die design, DFM, GD&T, CAD (Creo/NX/CATIA/SolidWorks), mould flow simulation (MAGMA/Flow-3D/Pro CAST), tool steels, CNC/EDM, and die-casting processes.
  • Leadership Skills: Team leadership, project management, cross-functional coordination, customer handling, and resource planning.
  • Behavioural Competencies: Analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, decision-making, adaptability, and continuous improvement.
