Job summary

Wadhwani AI seeks a Data Manager to embed within the Central TB Division, handling data management, quality assurance, analysis, and use of Nikshay and related TB data. You will strengthen data quality, support monitoring and decision-making, and coordinate with government counterparts for timely data provisioning.

You will lead data governance, maintain datasets and documentation, and prepare dashboards and reports for CTD reviews. Data privacy is a priority.

Qualifications

• Data management and health-program data systems experience.
• 8–12 years of analytics experience preferred.
• Managerial/leadership experience is desirable.
• Proficient in Excel, Python and SQL for data work.
• Ability to translate questions into data requirements.
• Knowledge of TB/NTEP and Nikshay is highly preferred.

Job Description

The Data Manager will be embedded within the Central TB Division (CTD) and will provide dedicated support for the management, quality assurance, analysis, and use of Nikshay and other NTEP data. The role will strengthen data quality, generate routine and ad-hoc analyses, support program monitoring and reviews, and enable data-driven decision-making.

• Serve as the data-management focal point within the CTD and support NTEP teams in their routine data requirements.


• Coordinate with relevant NTEP stakeholders for Nikshay data access, extraction, compilation, and preparation as per approved requirements.


• Support CTD in maintaining and organizing datasets, data dictionaries, indicator definitions, and related documentation.


• Support preparation of datasets and data summaries for CTD monitoring, review meetings, program planning, reporting, and decision-making.


• Respond to routine data queries from CTD teams and support ad-hoc data requests.


• Support govt. in generating and interpreting routine TB program indicators and trends.


• Support preparation of tables, charts, dashboards, and presentations for reviews and reporting.


• Maintain appropriate documentation of data requests, data sources, processing steps, and outputs.


• Ensure that patient-level and other sensitive data are handled, stored, and shared in accordance with permissions and applicable data-governance and confidentiality requirements.


• Liaise with relevant technical/data teams to troubleshoot data issues and facilitate timely resolution.

Requirements

• Strong experience in data management, data quality assurance, and health-program data systems.
  


• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  


• A Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, MBA, or a related field would be an advantage but should not be mandatory.
  


• Strong candidates from other disciplines can be considered if they have substantial hands‑on experience in analytics and data-driven decision‑making.
  


• 8–12 years of relevant experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Science, or a closely related field.
  


• Ideally 3+ years in a managerial/leadership capacity, managing analysts/data professionals and owning analytics projects end-to-end.
  


• Proficiency in Excel, Python and SQL
  


• Prior experience to work with large and complex datasets and undertake data cleaning, validation, transformation, and basic analysis.
  


• Strong understanding of health information systems and routine program monitoring data.
  


• Knowledge of TB/NTEP and Nikshay will be highly preferred.
  


• Ability to translate programmatic questions into data requirements and communicate data findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  


• Strong coordination and stakeholder-management skills, particularly in working with government counterparts.
  


• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple, time-sensitive data requests.
  


• Understanding of data privacy, confidentiality, access controls, and responsible handling of patient-level data.
  


• Experience working in a government technical support unit, or public health program will be an advantage.
