Job summary

Standard Chartered is seeking an experienced Regulatory Capital Reporting Lead in Bengaluru to coordinate end-to-end capital reporting across multiple groups. The role emphasises Basel frameworks, data quality, and governance to ensure accurate regulatory submissions.

You will collaborate with Group, Country, Business and Change teams to optimise Capital and RWA, leveraging SQL/SAS/Python and Moody’s data platforms in a fast-paced banking environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong functional content across Basel II, III and IV; knowledge of capital metrics and methodologies.
  • Good understanding of Banking Products and linkage to RWA and regulatory capital outcomes.
  • Familiarity with regulatory data management including BCBS 239 and PRA requirements.

Job description

  • Responsible for managing the delivery of regulatory reporting outputs in accordance with regulatory requirements. Works across Group, Country, Business and Change teams to improve the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of Capital metrics submitted to stakeholders. Supports initiatives to optimise Capital and RWA through improved data quality, controls, and reporting processes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for managing the delivery of regulatory reporting outputs in accordance with regulatory requirements. Works across Group, Country, Business and Change teams to improve the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of Capital metrics submitted to stakeholders. Supports initiatives to optimise Capital and RWA through improved data quality, controls, and reporting processes.

  • Responsible for managing the delivery of regulatory reporting outputs in accordance with regulatory requirements. Works across Group, Country, Business and Change teams to improve the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of Capital metrics submitted to stakeholders. Supports initiatives to optimise Capital and RWA through improved data quality, controls, and reporting processes.
Business
  • Strong functional knowledge across Basel frameworks (Basel II, III and IV), Capital metrics computation, and reporting methodologies. Good understanding of Banking Products and their linkage to Risk Weighted Assets and regulatory capital outcomes. Hands-on experience using SQL and reporting platforms to interrogate data and perform analysis. Familiarity with Moody’s reporting platforms is an advantage. Good understanding of regulatory data management requirements including BCBS 239, PRA and Local regulatory expectations.
Processes
  • Ensures operational efficiency, accuracy, and completeness of regulatory capital reports through effective monitoring of KPIs and controls. Establishes robust control checks and governance within the reporting process to meet regulatory standards. Drives continuous process improvement through standardisation, simplification, and automation to enhance reporting quality and sustainability.
People & Talent
  • Manages and develops team members responsible for BAU regulatory capital reporting. Collaborates with Change, Technology, and Business teams to support implementation of enhancements and ensures smooth transition of changes into BAU in line with regulatory and technology objectives.
Risk Management
  • Identifies, manages, and escalates risks related to capital metrics and regulatory reporting. Supports responses to internal and external queries on regulatory capital and reporting outcomes. Provides analysis and support on capital-related issues, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate documentation.
Governance
  • Monitor and ensure that appropriate Change governance is followed across all transformation initiatives. Represent the function at the governance forums in place for tracking change initiatives and influence decisions in respect of the change backlog, prioritisation, choice of technology tools and the operating model.
Regulatory & Business Conduct

Skills And Experience
  • Strong functional content across Basel framework (Basel II, III and IV); Capital metrics computation and methodologies, with key drivers
  • Good understanding on Banking Products and able to co-relate to Risk Weighted Assets / Regulatory Reporting
  • Candidate must be familiar with the use of SQL to interrogate and extract the data for analysis.
  • SAS and/or Python knowledge is an added benefit
  • Candidate must be familiar with regulatory requirements for data management - BCBS 239 and PRA requirements
  • Stakeholder engagement (across geographies) with strong communication skills
  • People leadership and management
  • Technical skills like Advanced Excel (including macro) and Python / R
  • Knowledge on Balance Sheet Management systems like Moody’s, Oracle, QRM
Qualifications
  • MBA (Fin) or Master’s in finance / Accountancy / Economics or affiliated subjects; Undergraduate degree in Science / Engineering / Commerce.
  • Chartered Accountant: Risk Management or related Professional Certification will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 8 years of Capital Regulatory Reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of Capital regulations and metrics; Proficient in analytics to drive deep understanding of Capital; Collaboration mindset; able to deliver solutions to improve BAU.
