Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services is seeking an experienced Mainframe z/OS Architect in Bengaluru to lead multi-site data center initiatives. The role requires hands-on architectural expertise, vendor coordination, and DR strategy development.

You will work with IBM and OEM/ISV products, perform capacity planning, and drive optimization across z/OS environments, DB2, CICS, MQ, and related tooling. On-site work in Bengaluru with global collaboration.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years hands-on technical and architect experience on Mainframe z/OS.
• Experience in multi-site Mainframe data centers with substantial MIPS.
• Knowledge of IBM z14/z15/z16 hardware and related replication.
• Experience with Mainframe storage, DR, licensing and ROI planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support Mainframe platform initiatives with IBM and OEM/ISV products evaluation.
• Derive realistic Mainframe SLAs and design architectures to meet those SLAs.
• Work with clients, vendors, and partners across projects.
• Perform capacity planning and performance tuning of Mainframe environments.
• Support disaster recovery setup and DR drills across data centers.
• Assist in software rationalization and MIPS optimization.

Exp- 5-9 Years

Summary of key responsibilities

Minimum 5 years of broad and in-depth hands-on technical and design/architect level experience in Mainframe z/OS

Experience in a multi-site (multiple Data Center) Mainframe shop of minimum 2,000 MIPS and above.

Work with Client/Customer, OEM & ISV Vendors, Business Partners related to all aspects of the Mainframe Platform.

Support various Mainframe Software (both IBM and OEM/ISV products evaluation, High Availability, Disaster Recovery etc.

Derive realistic Mainframe SLAs and design / propose architecture meeting those SLAs goals

Mainframe Licensing, TCO and ROI planning and decision making.

Years of Experience

Minimum 5+ years of hands-on technical and Architect experience on the Mainframe Platform as a whole (HW, SW, NW, OS and Security)

Technical requirements

• Conversant with both IBM and EMC HW and Replication methodology. Hitachi optional.
• Mainframe Data Center Physical Planning and Design
• Experience in IBM z14, z15 & z16 Mainframe HW and Parallel Sysplex/GDPS-GDDR Setup
• Experience in both IBM and EMC Disk and Tape Storage hardware, software and replication.
