Job summary

Kyndryl is seeking an experienced Mainframe IMS System Programmer to manage IMS components, perform upgrades, and optimize performance across client environments. You will work on installations, migrations, and automation, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust mainframe solutions.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of experience in Mainframe IMS System Programming.
• Hands-on IMS administration and support experience.
• Proficiency with JCL, TSO/ISPF, SMP/E (GSD a plus).
• Knowledge of IMS architecture and performance tuning.
• Experience with problem determination and production support.
• Exposure to API enablement technologies including z/OS Connect.
• Familiarity with IMS Data Sharing & Parallel Sysplex environments.
• Knowledge of mainframe automation and scripting tools (REXX, IBM System Automation).

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain IMS DB, DB/DC, DBCTL, and DCCTL components.
• Perform upgrades, migrations (PTFs, RSUs, new releases) and maintenance.
• Administer IMS Connect, ODBM, CSL, Shared Queues, HALDB, and Fast Path (DEDB).
• Monitor and tune system performance (buffer pools, regions, throughput).
• Maintain documentation, procedures, and automation (JCL, REXX).
• Use IMS Monitoring Tool to detect and resolve issues; debug DBMS subsystems.

• 9+ Years of experience in Mainframe IMS System Programming.
• Hands‑on IMS administration and support.
• Proficiency in JCL, TSO/ISPF, SMP/E if they know GSD even better.
• Knowledge of IMS architecture and performance tuning.
• Experience in problem determination and production support.
• Preferred Technical and Professional Experience Exposure to API enablement technologies, including z/OS Connect.
• Experience with IMS Data Sharing and Parallel Sysplex environments.
• Familiarity with Zowe and other web‑based mainframe management interfaces.
• Knowledge of mainframe automation and scripting tools, including REXX and IBM System Automation.
