Job summary

VML South Africa is seeking a seasoned Magento Architect in India to design and mentor teams for enterprise Magento platforms. You will drive architecture, performance, security, and seamless integration with external tools.

You will collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams, shaping the technical direction while delivering high-quality, scalable solutions in a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Overall 12+ years of experience in software development.
• 9+ years of Magento development experience.
• 3+ years of Magento 2 development experience.
• 9+ years of PHP development experience.
• 9+ years of MySQL experience.
• 5+ years managing technical and/or business teams in customer-facing roles.
• Led at least 3 Magento implementations as Architect.
• Experience with Magento 2.3.x to 2.4.x.
• Experience with SOAP, REST, and GraphQL web services.
• Git and version-control with knowledge of branching strategies.
• Strong design and problem-solving skills for scalable architectures.

A Magento Architect is responsible for planning, designing, managing architecture, and mentoring team while adopting best practices.

Job Scope

• Interfaces between clients, PMs, Business Solution Architects and Development team
• Maps client's product roadmap against Magento native vs custom features
• Validates the architecture against requirements and assumptions
• Verifies and validates development process, ensuring adherence to quality standards and methodology
• Creates technical specification documents
• Reviews codes and maintains highest Magento standard coding
• Leads/guides/mentors team members comprising senior and mid-level
• Becomes responsible for the technical architecture, code quality, performance, security and scalability of enterprise level projects
• Always represents Magento (work product, communications, presence) professionally in both client and team situations
• Articulates the architectural vision to clients, sponsors and stakeholders

• Experience working with Magento 2.3.x to 2.4.x
• Experience with web services (SOAP, RESTful, GraphQL)
• Experience with Version Control Systems like GIT
• Knowledge of different branching strategies
• Be well versed with Magento native features and respective configurations
• Expert knowledge of Composer
• Have experience integrating Magento with other applications/tools
• Familiarity with other ecommerce platforms
• Have great design and problem-solving skills, passion for quality and engineering excellence at scale
• Experience building and designing large-scale server applications in a distributed environment
• Excellent oral and written communication, presenting, meeting facilitation, negotiation, decision making, and problem-solving skills
• Experience in preparing and reviewing technical specification documents.
• Be able to lead integration with third party like payment gateways, analytical tools, marketing agencies Languages
• Experience documenting business processes and wireframing system designs using process flow diagram tools, UML, sequence diagrams, etc
• Have strong presentation skills; skilled and effective at presenting to both technical and business audiences
• Expert level experience defining the system architecture landscape, identifying gaps between current and desired end-states, and delivering a comprehensive solution that will enable achievement of the desired business outcomes
