Job summary

HCLTech in Bengaluru is seeking a seasoned Linux kernel driver engineer to design, develop and maintain device drivers for Linux-based embedded platforms. You will work with I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, NVMe and DMA devices, and apply kernel subsystems concepts such as Character, Network, Block drivers, and Power Management.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Linux kernel device driver development for embedded platforms.
  • Strong understanding of Embedded Linux architecture and kernel subsystems.
  • Hands-on experience with peripherals such as I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, NVMe.
  • Proficient in debugging kernel crashes and memory issues.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Linux kernel device drivers for peripherals.
  • Perform board bring-up and BSP customization.
  • Analyse crashes, memory issues, performance bottlenecks and conduct hardware-software integration.
  • Collaborate with firmware, hardware validation and application teams; participate in code reviews.

Job description

  • Strong expertise in Linux Device Driver development. Strong understanding of Embedded Linux architecture.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Linux kernel device drivers.
  • Implement and debug drivers for peripherals such as I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, NVMe, and DMA-based devices.
  • Kernel subsystem knowledge: Character, Network, Block Drivers, GPIO & Power Management Frameworks.
  • Perform board bring-up activities and BSP customisation.
  • Analyse kernel crashes, memory issues, performance bottlenecks, and hardware-software integration problems.
  • Work closely with firmware, hardware, validation, and application teams.
  • Support kernel upgrades, patch integration, and upstreaming activities.
  • Interrupt (IRQ) handling. DMA buffer management. Kernel debugging and tracing.

Participate in code reviews and ensure compliance with software quality processes
