Job summary

The Walt Disney Company in Mumbai is seeking a CG Lighting Artist on a one-year contract to create images, effects and programs for digitally composited sequences and to design lighting and shadows that meet artistic direction.

You will collaborate with supervisors to complete shots, mentor junior artists in lighting and technical aspects, manage time estimates, and contribute to daily reviews with clear communication.

Qualifications

• Some CGI experience is required.
• Ability to create images, effects and programs for digitally composited sequences.
• Designs and implements direct and reflected lighting and shadows.
• Develops techniques to meet art/technical direction.
• Able to manage multiple shots and lighting setups.

Responsibilities

• Create lighting, rendering and shading for CG characters.
• Compile and finish shots with the various assets.
• Mentor junior artists in lighting and technical aspects.
• Communicate status and issues to Supervisors and Production.
• Participate in dailies/shot reviews with concise progress updates.

Primary Responsibilities

This will be on a contract for a Year.

• Looking for people with some CGI Experience.
• Creates images, effects and programs for digitally composited sequences
• Responsible for compiling the various elements of a shot and seeing it through to completion
• Designs and implements direct and reflected lighting and shadows for assigned shots that meet art and tone direction
• Develop solutions and techniques that meet art/technical direction
• Able to navigate and use previous setups for at least a dozen shots, insertion of shot specialization, managing multiple assets and lighting setups
• Management of volumetric light setups, including shadowing and cucoloris development
• Light, material tweaking and render for actors using CG hair and scattering skin materials.
• Actively work with competency, energy and enthusiasm within a team environment with daily supervision to complete a shot.
• Demonstrates good listening and communication skills by openly receiving direction and criticism by asking good questions to confirm clear knowledge of the directions and how to approach what needs to be done. Once clear, implements the requested changes immediately and raises flags right away if a solution is not quickly found or if there are any delays, making sure the Supervisors and Production are kept in the loop and are up-to-date on the status of one’s shot work.
• Demonstrates strong presentation/communication skills in dailies/shot review by clearly and briefly outlining what has been accomplished and what next should be addressed in the shot.
• Demonstrates the development of an eye toward anticipating potential problems and knowing what could look better in one’s shot.
• Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks managing time well, providing everyone with accurate time estimates on shot task completion.
• Mentors other digital artists in creative Lighting and technical aspects.
