Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician license (Virginia).
• Strong nursing and technical skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care and perform technical duties within the scope of Virginia licensure.
• Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia and provide perioperative patient care.
• Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory procedures, diagnostic imaging, and prescribed treatments.
• Dental radiographs and technician-level dentistry.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes to the medical team.
• Educate clients on medications, preventive care, and home care.
• Maintain complete and accurate medical records.
• Collaborate with veterinarians, other LVTs, assistants, and client service team.
• Advocate for excellent patient care and efficient hospital flow.

What You'll Do

As an LVT at Salem Veterinary Hospital, you'll have the opportunity to work within your licensure and play an active role in delivering high-quality patient care, including:

Provide skilled nursing care and perform technical duties within the scope of your Virginia licensure.

Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and medical procedures.

Induce and monitor anesthesia and provide comprehensive perioperative patient care.

Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory procedures, diagnostic imaging, and prescribed treatments.

Take an active role in dentistry, including dental radiographs and appropriate technician-level procedures.

Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes in patient status to the medical team.

Educate clients regarding medications, preventive care, treatment plans, and at-home care.

Maintain complete and accurate medical records.

Collaborate closely with veterinarians, fellow LVTs, assistants, and client service team members.

Advocate for excellent patient care while helping maintain efficient hospital flow.

What We' re Looking For

Current Virginia Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) license, or eligibility for Virginia licensure.

Strong technical and nursing skills with a desire to use them every day.

Confidence with anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and hospitalized patient care is highly valued.

Excellent communication and client education skills.

Strong attention to detail and sound clinical judgment.
