Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Verification & Validation Engineer to join our high-performance applications team.

The role requires strong expertise in Python-based test automation, combined with hands-on experience in system and machine-level validation of mining, drilling, construction, automotive, or industrial equipment.

In addition to verification and validation responsibilities, the candidate will act as a technology catalyst, identifying opportunities and transforming innovative ideas into practical, scalable solutions using AI-assisted testing, Digital Twin technologies, automated test systems and simulation.

The ideal candidate should be capable of developing scalable automation frameworks, validating integrated systems on machines and test rigs, and driving new approaches that improve test coverage, quality, speed, and engineering efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites (functional, regression, integration, performance).
• Develop Python-based test scripts and custom automation frameworks.
• Use tools such as Robot Framework, Selenium, and other libraries for automation of UI/embedded systems.
• Define test strategies, create comprehensive test plans, and manage test cases using Jira or equivalent tools.
• Perform debugging, log analysis, and root cause investigation for complex issues.
• Integrate test automation with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps).

System / Machine Validation

• Conduct hands-on validation tests on machines, simulators, test benches, and integrated systems.
• Validate end-to-end workflows on mining/drilling equipment and ensure system compliance with functional & safety requirements.
• Perform hardware–software integration testing, including sensor, I/O, hydraulics, engine, and actuator interactions.
• Analyse machine performance, check system response behaviour, and document deviations or improvement needs.
• Ensure adherence to Epiroc’s validation standards, safety practices, and field-testing guidelines.
• Ability to define test strategies, create detailed test plans, and manage test case repositories using tools like Jira.
• Skilled in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of complex issues.
• Experience with debugging tools and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Strong communication skills to work with cross-functional teams including developers, system engineers, and product owners.
• Ability to lead testing discussions, reviews, and defect triages.
• Passion for quality advocacy and mentoring junior team members in testing best practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degreein relevant engineering fields (e.g., Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics, Computer Science) with 3 to 8 years of professional experience.Proficient in Python with the ability to develop test scripts and automation frameworks.Experience in C++, PLC- based systems is an asset.
• Experience with automation tools such as Robot Framework, Selenium, and related test libraries.Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment.Familiarity with communication protocols like CAN, J1939, LIN, and Ethernet is an advantage.
• Experience using Git for version control, CI/CD practices, and tools within the Azure DevOps ecosystem. Familiarity with automated deployment pipelines and versioning best practices.Excellent customer-facing skills with a proactive approach, capable of understanding client needs and delivering customized solutions

Identify practical opportunities to use AI in verification, validation, and engineering workflows.Explore AI-assisted approaches for test-case generation, log analysis, defect identification, test prioritization, and test-result interpretation.Develop proof of concepts and convert promising AI ideas into usable engineering solutions.Support the implementation of intelligent test automation and data-driven validation approaches.Apply analytical and machine learning concepts to identify patterns, anomalies, and potential failures from test and machine data.Evaluate emerging AI tools and recommend suitable applications within verification and validation activities.Promote the responsible use of AI with appropriate focus on data quality, traceability, security, and engineering validation.

Digital Twin and Virtual Validation

Develop or support Digital Twin, simulation, and virtual validation environments for machine and system testing.Connect system models, simulated components, automation frameworks, and real machine data to improve validation coverage.Use Digital Twin environments to test system behaviour, operational scenarios, faults, and edge cases before machine-level testing.Automate test execution across simulated, virtual, and physical test environments.Analyse differences between simulated and actual machine behaviour and support model improvement.Drive the reuse of simulation assets and automated test components across projects.
