Job summary

GE Vernova Grid Solutions is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to plan, supervise, and coordinate all systems engineering activities for large HVDC projects, spanning internal teams and external suppliers. You will implement ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 processes, manage requirements, verification, validation, and risk, and report progress to stakeholders in a multi‑cultural environment.

Travel involvement is expected as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Automation or related field.
  • 5+ years in Systems Engineering with requirements management, verification and validation.
  • HVDC Power Transmission industry experience or similar field.
  • Experience with IBM DOORS or RELATICS and PLM tools.
  • Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise and coordinate systems engineering tasks to meet project objectives.
  • Develop and manage Verification & Validation Plans and Reports for system requirements.
  • Allocate system requirements across subsystems and owners; ensure data quality.
  • Promote ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 processes and maintain lifecycle discipline.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and suppliers in a multi‑cultural environment.
  • Maintain change management using RMS; capture clarifications and adjustments.
  • Mentor junior RMS engineers and drive proactive risk management.

Job Description Summary For Grid Solutions

Offshore HVDC represents a key differentiating technology and a central focus for the business, particularly in Europe where Transmission System Operators have very ambitious renewable energy targets. In that context and for Germany, Grid Solutions is partnering with German TSOs which plans to invest more than $30B by 2030 in deploying new HVDC converter stations to bring Offshore Wind energy into Germany and the Netherlands. In this context, Grid Solutions is looking for a Lead Systems Engineer responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating all systems engineering technical tasks required to realize the above project objectives, whether those tasks are undertaken in house or by Suppliers/Sub-Contractors. Job Description Essential Responsibilities
  • Engineering Management Perform in-depth Requirements Analysis system requirements to support project needs.
  • Gather stakeholder technical needs and translate them into clear, verifiable system requirements.
  • Allocate system requirements across subsystems, and relevant requirement owners.
  • Develop and manage Verification & Validation Plans and Reports for system requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to coordinate Verification & Validation activities through all project phases.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of systems engineering deliverables.
  • Manage and ensure effective communication of all relevant data within and across the requirements management database.
  • Supervise and manage systems engineering tasks to achieve project objectives.
  • Implement and uphold ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288:2015 Systems and software engineering — System life cycle processes.
  • Change Management: Ensure that the team use the RMS tool to document the evolution of the requirements during the tender/Project process. This should include any clarifications provided by the Customer, as a result of a TQ or otherwise, and any adjustments agreed with the Customer either pre or during the contract negotiations or during OTR Project.
  • Lessons Learned: Capitalise significant lessons which could reoccur on projects, by converting them into requirements that must be satisfied on future projects. Maintain a library of these requirements by project type, such that they can easily be added to new projects and tenders at their commencement.
  • Quality Advocate for the adoption of best practices in Systems Engineering to improve the delivery of the Engineering function.
  • Health and Safety Actively and routinely promote the identification of hazards and EHS risks in own area of operation and objects of design. Provide insight to leaders, customers, and colleagues with respect to own safety and systems and product integrity. Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Automation and Control Engineering or a similar field.
  • +5 years of experience in Systems Engineering, with hands‑on involvement in Requirements Management, Verification, and Validation activities.
  • Have experience in the HVDC Power Transmission industry or similar field.
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as IBM®DOORS or RELATICS.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Able to work in a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team environment.
  • Willing to travel as required.
  • High level of integrity and accountability with a results‑driven mindset.

  • Have experience in establishing Systems Engineering processes such as Requirements Management, Verification, and Validation.
  • Have experience in a low Systems Engineering maturity environment.
  • Have experience in Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) process.
  • Have experience working in a consortium project environment.
  • Have a strong understanding of dependability management and relevant industry standards.
  • Be able to adapt to changing requirements and priorities.

  • Fluent in English; additional language (any foreign Language) is a plus.
  • Proven technical leadership in a complex system engineering development environment.
  • Proactively serves on cross functional leadership teams; self‑directed decision-making; Pulls in experts when needed.
  • Strong leadership, supportive and team coordination abilities to guide and mentor junior RMS engineers
