Job summary

Hitachi Energy invites an experienced civil/structural engineer to join the GIS Steel Structural Engineering team in India. You will lead as project engineer, develop engineering documents and drawings for GIS steel support structures above 66kV, and contribute to Tekla modelling on selected projects.

The role requires 8–10 years in civil/structural engineering, hands-on skills in STAAD.Pro, Idea-static, Ansys and Hilti Profits, plus Tekla and Navisworks.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of experience in civil and structural engineering.
• Hands-on experience with STAAD.Pro, Idea-static, Ansys and Hilti Profits.
• Hands-on experience in Tekla, Navisworks and other modelling software.
• Familiarity with international standards (IEC/IEEE/ANSI) and regional codes.
• Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and MS Office; knowledge of galvanization and painting procedures.
• Mandatory HSE standards knowledge (OSHA, DIN, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Lead as project engineer to develop project-specific engineering documents and drawings for GIS steel support structures.
• Collaborate with Primary/Secondary engineering, project management and production units.
• Plan and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for timely project execution.
• Prepare design calculations (STAAD.Pro, Idea-static, Hilti Profits) and contribute to Tekla modelling.
• Ensure inputs are available from stakeholders and maintain project documentation.
• Deliver designs on time with quality and perform self- and peer reviews.

The Hitachi Energy Indian Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 3000+ skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, project Management, functional system testing, installation supervision, documentation and commissioning. However, over the last decade, it has evolved to become the largest Operations hub. The India Operations Centre team at Chennai, Bangalore and Gurugram supports Hitachi Energy's units in more than 40 countries across a wide portfolio of all the four business units in Hitachi Energy to date, the team has executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than 80 countries.

How you'll make an impact:

• You will be a part of the GIS Steel Structural Engineering team, you will be supporting as project lead engineer to develop project specific engineering documents and drawings for submission to customer and the documents required for manufacturing of Steel Support Structures for GIS equipment (transmission and sub-transmission systems).
• You will be an individual contributor who would deliver the tasks as per the given inputs and when required need to work in coordination with other colleagues and should exhibit good collaborative skills to complete the task.
• You may also interact with other departments like Primary Engineering, Secondary engineering, Project Management and Production units.
• Project Planning and coordination with various internal & external stakeholders for a smooth project execution.
• Preparation of Design calculation (in Staad. Pro, Idea-static & Hilti profits) of Steel Support Structures for Gas Insulated Switchgears above 66kV. (Contribution to Tekla modelling will be mandatorily required in certain projects).
• Ensure all necessary inputs are available from stakeholders.
• Prepare project specific Civil plan for customer providing GIS loading for design of customer building floor, ceiling cranes etc., Influence of environmental conditions on GIS structure designs etc.
• Self-review & peer review of documents.
• Delivery of designs on time with Quality and coordinating with the other team members and project lead engineer.
• Directly responsible for maintaining and updating the documentation for respective projects as per quality process.

Your background:

• Years of experience: 8-10 years with B.E/M.E. in Civil & Structural Engineering.
• Hand on experience in Structural engineering using STAAD. Pro, Idea-static, Ansys & Hilti Profits software's.
• Hand on experience in Tekla, Navisworks and other modelling software's.
• Familiarity with codes and applicable standards necessary for Structural Modelling & Detailing (American, European, Canadian etc.) is Mandatory.
• Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge tools like AUTOCAD, MSOffice etc.
• Knowledge of Galvanization & painting procedures.
• Knowledge of HSE standards like OSHA, DIN etc.. is mandatory.
• Knowledge of international standards such as IEC/ IEEE / ANSI is preferable.
• Knowledge of HV substation / HV products preferable.
• Working knowledge of Tekla structures is an added advantage.
