Job summary

Fairygodboss is seeking an experienced software engineer to design, develop, and troubleshoot advanced software solutions. The role emphasizes building scalable Java/Spring Boot applications, modern React UIs, and robust data layer expertise with SQL and NoSQL databases.

You will lead AI-assisted development initiatives, ensure secure coding practices, and drive end-to-end project delivery within the financial services landscape, collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 5+ years of applied experience
• Advanced experience designing and building scalable applications using Java and Spring Boot
• Extensive hands-on experience with RDBMS, particularly Oracle and PostgreSQL, including database design, query optimization, and performance tuning
• Advanced experience developing modern, responsive user interfaces using React
• Proven experience leading technology projects end-to-end, from planning through delivery and production readiness
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools with ability to validate AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and resiliency and security expectations
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and data-driven application design
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
• Ability to define technical strategy, drive best practices, and influence engineering teams
• Deep understanding of financial services, regulatory reporting, and enterprise IT systems with strong foundation across modern technical domains (AWS, AI/ML)

Responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
• Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while establishing validation standards and promoting reuse of effective patterns
• Applies knowledge of tools within the SDLC toolchain, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve value of automation
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to probe architectural designs and applicability for use within existing systems
• Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new technologies
