Job summary

JPMorgan Chase in Bengaluru is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join Wholesale Credit Risk Technology. You will be a core technical contributor, delivering secure, scalable, cloud-native software solutions, including REST APIs, with Java Spring Boot and Spring MVC, while guiding multiple engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 14+ years applied experience.
• Hands-on experience leading technology projects as a hands-on Application Development Lead or equivalent.
• Experience using AI tools and driving AI First development approaches.
• Knowledge of enterprise AI-assisted development, secure data handling, and SDLC automation.

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Wholesale Credit Risk Technology, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

• Provides guidance and manages a team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities to deliver high quality software


• Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration


• Participate in design sessions with fellow programmers, business analysts, Product Owners and other team members to analyze business requirements and outline the proposed IT solution


• Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems


• Leads team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices and SDLC/TLM automation to improve delivery speed, quality, and operational outcomes, while setting expectations for human validation, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and consistent use of reusable patterns across teams.


• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation and support capacity unlock initiatives.


• Primarily, design and implement secure and robust REST APIs using technologies such as Java Spring Boot and Spring MVC for cloud native micro-service applications


• Demonstrates overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle with solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security


• Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development


• Participate in code reviews

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 14+ years applied experience.


• Experience leading technology projects working as a hands-on (actively coding) Application


• Development Lead or related role.


• Hands-on experience using AI tools and drives the development with AI First mindset


• Experience leading responsible adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and delivery tools across engineering teams, including defining ways of working (review/validation expectations), measuring outcomes, and ensuring secure handling of data.


• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, resiliency/security implications, and governance expectations; ability to coach engineers on compliant and effective usage.


• Experience leading technology projects and managing technologists


• Experience with using Cloud computing, micro services, Containers/Dockers/Kubernetes, Kafka in a highly distributed environment


• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security


• Ability to understand UI technologies such as JavaScript / React and experience in building enterprise applications


• Proficient in automation, continuous delivery methods and all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle


• Extensive knowledge and experience working in an Agile environment.


• Passionate about learning emerging technologies

• Hands on experience with writing functional and regression automated tests to be run as part of the build pipeline.
