Job summary

Northern Trust Corp in Pune, India, seeks a seasoned Senior QA Automation Engineer to design and implement scalable test automation across UI, API, and integration layers. You will lead large-scale automated executions, drive reliability, and ensure quality gates in CI/CD pipelines.

The role requires 10–13 years of Java test automation expertise, strong SDLC release management, and DevOps proficiency. Banking/financial services experience is preferred; APAC shift follows IST timings.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance scalable enterprise test automation frameworks for UI, API, and integration testing.
• Lead large-scale automated test execution across multiple apps and environments.
• Improve test resiliency by eliminating flaky tests and data/environment issues.
• Troubleshoot and optimize existing automation scripts for reliability and speed.
• Analyze failures to differentiate application vs automation/infrastructure issues.
• Build repeatable unattended enterprise test execution with logging and recovery.
• Validate promotions, releases, and changes across environments.
• Integrate automated testing and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines (Git/Jenkins/GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps).
• Apply AI-assisted testing tools for test creation and maintenance.
• Provide technical leadership through automation architecture and code reviews.

Major Duties:

• Design, develop, and enhance scalable enterprise test automation frameworks for UI, API, integration, unit, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Lead large-scale automated test execution across multiple applications and environments, including scheduled, release, deployment, and code-promotion validation.
• Improve test automation resiliency by identifying and eliminating flaky tests, intermittent failures, synchronization issues, dependency failures, test-data issues, environment instability, and configuration-related failures.
• Troubleshoot and fix, refactor, and optimize existing automation scripts , improving reliability, maintainability, execution speed, error handling, recovery, and reusability.
• Analyze execution failures to distinguish application defects from automation, environment, data, access, configuration, and infrastructure issues , and drive sustainable root-cause fixes.
• Build automation capable of reliable repeatable and unattended enterprise execution , with effective logging, reporting, failure diagnostics, rerun/recovery mechanisms, and execution monitoring.
• Validate code promotions, releases, deployments, and application/platform changes across development, test, staging, and production environments.
• Integrate automated testing and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines using Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or comparable technologies.
• Apply GitHub Copilot, Generative AI, and AI-assisted testing for test creation, code improvement, failure analysis, automation maintenance, and engineering productivity.
• Provide technical leadership through automation architecture, coding standards, code reviews, mentoring, and continuous improvement.

Experience & Qualifications:

• 10-13 years of relevant experience in Java test automation and SDLC release management , preferable in financial domain services.
• Strong expertise in DevOps.
• Holds Bachelor’s or equivalent degree.
