Thales is seeking a Lead Site Reliability Engineer in Bengaluru to drive reliability across cloud-scale infrastructure and lead SRE initiatives. You will implement SLI/SLO/SLA, reduce toil, and mentor development teams to adopt resilient patterns.

Responsibilities include architecting resilient platforms, leading on-call rotations, performing RCA, and ensuring production services meet business needs. Strong Linux, networking, containers, IaC, and observability skills are essential.

Formación

• 7+ years of professional experience in cloud/web/CDN-scale infrastructure.
• Expert Linux production troubleshooting with standard tools (top/htop, iostat, etc.).
• Strong networking fundamentals; TCP/UDP, routing basics; practical debugging.
• DNS & HTTP(S) clarity; TTL, caching, LB patterns.
• TLS/SSL proficiency; certificate chains and validation.
• Production mindset prioritizing mitigation and RCA; runbooks.
• IaC/DevOps experience; CI/CD pipelines, monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana).
• Big data tech: Redis, Elasticsearch, Kafka.
• Docker and Kubernetes container management.
• Agile development and cross-team collaboration.

The Group has also established an MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) facility in Gurugram to provide comprehensive avionics maintenance and repair services to Indian airlines and support the growth of the local aviation industry.**Responsibilities*** Apply SRE core tenets of measurement (SLI/SLO/SLA), eliminate toil, and reliability modeling* Enable and educate development teams on industry best practice design patterns, ways of working and operational knowledge to ensure platform continuity* Develop and architect solutions to infrastructure and operational aspects of new products and feature sets* Assist with go/no go preplanning, verification/validation, and review of existing and new product/services* Proactively analyze data and test the integrity of network/systems to ensure production applications and services are operating optimally* Work within development teams to troubleshoot and resolve business affecting issues* Escalations, incident response, RCA, and blameless postmortem* Participate in on-call rotation**Qualifications*** **At least 7+ years of professional experience within a cloud/web/CDN scale infrastructure*** **Expert Linux troubleshooting in production: isolate CPU vs memory vs IO vs network bottlenecks quickly; hands-on with top/htop, vmstat, iostat, sar, pidstat, ss, lsof, dmesg, and journald/systemd.*** **Strong networking fundamentals + practical debugging: deep understanding of TCP/UDP and routing basics; can prove issues using curl, dig, mtr/traceroute, nc, and tcpdump.*** **DNS & HTTP(S) clarity: understands resolver vs authoritative, TTL/caching, SERVFAIL/NXDOMAIN patterns; knows HTTP 502/503/504 meaning and common LB/proxy failure modes.*** **TLS/SSL proficiency: understands certificate chain, expiry, SNI mismatch, handshake failures; can validate quickly using openssl s\\_client and interpret output.*** **Production mindset: prioritizes mitigation first (rollback/disable/route around), then RCA; writes clear runbooks and automates repeat fixes to reduce toil.*** **Expert knowledge of Linux systems, network programming and protocols TCP, UDP, DNS, TLS/SSL, HTTP*** Experience with BGP and Anycast routing is a plus* Experience with DevOps principles and concepts such as Infrastructure as Code (Ansible/Saltstack), CI/CD (Gitlab, Jenkins, Git), monitoring and visualization (**Prometheus, Grafana**)* Experience with big data technologies such as NoSQL/RDBMS, Redis, **ElasticSearch, Kafka*** Experience with containers and container management (Docker, Kubernetes)* Experience analyzing and building data telemetry, modeling, pipelines, UI visualization* Experience in developing software, troubleshooting, and monitoring large scale distributed systems* Implement software engineering best practices/standards and software development life cycle* Working knowledge and experience of Agile software development methodologies* A strong team player who is accountable towards business urgency* Ability to stay organized in a multi-tasking environment* Self-starter personalityAt Thales, we’re committed to fostering a workplace where respect, trust, collaboration, and passion drive everything we do.
