Job summary

The Corporate Institute in Mumbai seeks a Lead Research Analyst to manage end-to-end equity research coverage for Institutional Equities, focusing on BFSI, Healthcare, Capital Goods, and Building Materials.

You will produce high-conviction research, engage with institutional clients, mentor junior analysts, and help drive strategic insights for AIF, PMS, and HNI advisory businesses. The role reports to Head of Research / CEO and offers ESOPs for exceptional performers.

Qualifications

• 7–15 years in equity research with strong coverage of Indian companies across BFSI, Healthcare, Capital goods and Building Materials.
• Postgraduate in Finance, CA, MBA, or CFA (USA) – will be a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain detailed financial models – earnings forecasts, revenue builds, segment-level projections, balance sheet modelling, and DCF/SOTP/relative valuations.
• Produce high-quality initiating coverage reports, thematic pieces, sectoral deep-dives, quarterly earnings previews/reviews, and timely stock-specific update notes.
• Go beyond consensus through channel checks, supply chain analysis, management interactions, plant visits, and primary data analysis.
• Develop and maintain a track record of high-conviction BUY and SELL recommendations with clear catalysts, target prices, and risk-reward frameworks.

Looking for a Lead Research Analyst to manage end-to-end equity research coverage for our Institutional Equities division, with primary focus on BFSI, Healthcare, Capital Goods and Building Materials sectors. You will generate differentiated, high-conviction research that drives investment decisions for our institutional buy-side clients – mutual funds, insurance companies, FPIs, family offices, while simultaneously informing the investment strategies of our AIF, PMS, and HNI advisory businesses.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Analysis

• Financial Modelling: Develop, maintain, and enhance detailed financial models – earnings forecasts, revenue builds, segment-level projections, balance sheet modelling, and DCF/SOTP/relative valuations using appropriate methodologies.
• Research Reports: Produce high-quality initiating coverage reports, thematic pieces, sectoral deep-dives, quarterly earnings previews/reviews, and timely stock-specific update notes that generate client engagement and trading ideas.
• Differentiated Insights: Go beyond consensus. Conduct channel checks, supply chain analysis, management interactions, plant visits, and primary data analysis to develop proprietary insights that give our clients an information edge.
• Conviction Calls: Develop and maintain a track record of high-conviction BUY and SELL recommendations with clear catalysts, target prices, and risk-reward frameworks. Your best ideas should be bold enough to move capital.

Client Engagement

• Institutional Relationships: Engage directly with institutional buy-side clients – mutual funds, insurance companies, pension funds, FPIs, and family offices – to present research views, discuss investment ideas, and build long-term advisory relationships.
• Corporate Access: Facilitate and lead corporate access initiatives – management meetings, investor conferences, non-deal roadshows, plant/site visits, and sector roundtables – that deepen client engagement and strengthen Monarch’s institutional franchise.
• Client Feedback & Rankings: Drive research output quality that earns client recognition, positive feedback, and rankings in institutional surveys such as Asiamoney, II, and other industry polls.

Team & Culture

• Ownership: Take full ownership of your sector coverage. You are not writing reports for approval – you are building a franchise within a franchise. Your sector is your business.
• Mentorship: Guide and develop junior analysts. Build a culture of intellectual rigour, original thinking, and accountability within the research team.
