Job summary

BMC Software in Pune, India seeks a Technical Program Manager to lead organization-wide adoption of AI-powered development tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot) across engineering teams. You will define roadmaps, measure ROI, and build operational frameworks enabling data-driven decisions on AI investments.

You will bridge engineering leadership, product teams and developers, driving adoption metrics, dashboards, and end-to-end delivery plans while aligning with corporate strategy and risk management.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, Product Operations, or a related role in a software development environment.
• Demonstrated experience driving the adoption of AI-powered development tools across engineering teams.
• Experience defining and tracking adoption metrics, building dashboards, and reporting on productivity impact.
• Proficiency with AI tools, Jira, Confluence, or equivalent program management tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end rollout and adoption of AI-powered development tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot) across engineering teams.
• Partner with engineering managers to integrate AI tools into the SDLC, identifying opportunities where AI can streamline code generation, testing, documentation, and release planning.
• Define, track, and report on key AI adoption metrics at the user, team, and organizational levels, including adoption rate, acceptance rate, LOC efficiency, and active vs. inactive seats.
• Build dashboards that consolidate AI usage data with delivery metrics to correlate AI adoption with productivity improvements.
• Drive end-to-end program execution for AI adoption initiatives, owning roadmaps, milestones, dependencies, and delivery plans.

We are seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead the organizational adoption of AI-powered development tools and drive measurable improvements in engineering productivity. This role is focused on scaling the use of AI-assisted toolsspecifically with Cursor and GitHub Copilot (but not limited to)across engineering teams, tracking adoption and ROI metrics, and building the operational frameworks that enable data-driven decision‑making around AI investments.

You will serve as the bridge between engineering leadership, product teams, and developers, ensuring that AI tools are not just deployed but effectively integrated into daily workflows. Your success will be measured by adoption rates, productivity gains, and the overall impact of AI on software delivery outcomes

• Lead the end-to-end rollout and adoption of AI-powered development tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot) across engineering teams
• Partner with engineering managers to integrate AI tools into the SDLC, identifying opportunities where AI can streamline code generation, testing, documentation, and release planning
• Define, track, and report on key AI adoption metrics at the user, team, and organizational levels, including:
• Adoption rate: Percentage of active users on Copilot/Cursor across teams.
• Acceptance rate: Ratio of accepted AI-generated suggestions to total suggestions.
• LOC efficiency: Lines of code kept vs. lines suggested by AI tools.
• Active vs. inactive seats: Identify underutilized licenses for cost optimization.
• Build dashboards that consolidate AI usage data with delivery metrics (cycle time, review time, refactor rate) to correlate AI adoption with productivity improvements
• Drive end-to-end program execution for AI adoption initiatives, owning roadmaps, milestones, dependencies, and delivery plans
• Enable project success across multiple teams by sharing expert knowledge, guiding project leads, and ensuring alignment with organizational strategies.
• Influence organizational risk management strategies by providing expert analysis and recommendations for mitigating risks across multiple projects.
• Develop and implement advanced documentation and reporting frameworks that provide critical insights and support strategic initiatives across projects. Responsible for building the Project Charter.
• Lead project excellence initiatives, influencing the integration of feedback and continuous improvement practices across projects, setting benchmarks for quality and performance.

To ensure you are set up for success, you will bring the following skillset experience

7+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, Product Operations, or a related role in a software development environment.

Demonstrated experience driving the adoption of AI-powered development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar) across engineering teams.

Experience defining and tracking adoption metrics, building dashboards, and reporting on productivity impact.

Proficiency with AI tools, Jira, Confluence, or equivalent program management tools.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands‑on experience using Cursor or GitHub Copilot in a development capacity.

Familiarity with AI agent frameworks and automation tools.

Experience with SQL or scripting (Python, JavaScript) to build dashboards and automation.

Background in organizational transformation, change management, or internal tool adoption.

Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and modern engineering automation practices (good to have)
