Job summary

Wenger & Watson is seeking an experienced Design Lead to drive strategy and execution across multiple product pillars in a fast-paced environment. You will mentor designers, partner with PMs and engineers to translate business goals into actionable roadmaps, and shape the product vision through data-informed storytelling and user empathy.

The role emphasizes advancing design systems, accessibility, and scalable patterns while ensuring cohesive experiences across surfaces and devices.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant design experience, with 2+ years in leadership or mentorship
• Proven record of delivering data-informed experiences across design lifecycle
• Deep fluency in design systems, accessibility, and scalable design patterns
• Strong visual and interaction design craft focusing on hierarchy, layout, motion, usability
• Experience designing for AI-driven interfaces, collaborating with ML/data teams
• Influence design direction at system/platform level, not just feature
• Natural mentor coaching Senior and Junior designers
• Strong facilitation skills: workshops, critiques, decision frameworks
• Portfolio shows systematic thinking and measurable product impact
• Excellent communication to simplify complex ideas and advocate design-led solutions
• Familiarity with front-end constraints; work with engineers to ship quality
• Committed to inclusive, accessible, scalable design
• Passionate about improving team operations, processes, tools, documentation

• Mentor and grow the design team; provide feedback and career guidance
• Partner with PMs and Engineering to translate business goals into design roadmaps

• Contribute to and evolve our design system for cohesive experiences
• Define metrics for design quality and impact (usability, accessibility, NPS)
• Create alignment between design and cross-functional teams via documentation and critiques
• Stay current on design trends and tools, bringing actionable insights to the team

• Strong visual and interaction design craft—you care about hierarchy, layout, motion, and usability as much as strategy
• Experience designing for AI-driven or intelligent interfaces, including collaboration with ML and data teams
• Track record of influencing design direction at a system or platform level, not just at feature level
• Natural mentor—comfortable coaching Senior and Junior designers while promoting shared standards of excellence
• Strong facilitation skills: workshops, design critiques, and decision frameworks
• A portfolio that demonstrates systematic thinking and measurable product impact
• Excellent communication—able to simplify complex ideas for different audiences and advocate for design-led solutions
• Familiarity with front-end implementation constraints; ability to work closely with engineers to ship quality
